The more I feel one thing should determine who gets my vote this coming election.
Security of the USA.
Don't care if Huckabee or any other candidate hunts.
Abortion, really don't care who they are going to appoint to the Supreme Court.
Same sex marriage, Seriously this isn't top twenty problems this country has to deal with.
Mortgage rates, who cares.
Second Amendment, really not going to sway my vote.
If Islamic Terroists or Domestic Terroists can succeed in setting off a nuke or Bio weapon in this country, our way of life will never be the same.
So who is even discussing this problem?
How do we keep the USA borders safe.

Just to play the Devil's advocate, if terrorists did set off a nuke here, it would likely lead to peace, since the U.S. would probably finally take off the gloves and turn every country that posed even a moderate threat into a parking lot.

I dont think you understand what I mean. I think that if nuke was set off here, the response by Americans would be 10 times worse than for 9-11. So, when i mean turning countries into parking lots, i pretty much mean that literally. People can't attack you if they are all dead.

Well Lanse I do understand where your coming from. Lets say we nuke oh lets say 300 Million of them, that leaves some where aroun a billion more to pick up arms against us, right.
Or do you feel they will just say " I don't any of this crap?"
Aught six said something along the lines of we can't fight their religion we have to fight the terroists, but it's the religion creating the terroists and the religion is practiced every where.

The ironic difference between this and torture is a matter of scale. The irony comes to play when you consider torturing MILLIONS by way of slow radiation death versus a few with non-lethal tactics.
The muslims can't unify now in one country (iraq) so I do not think that muslims in different countrys are going to all of a sudden unify and come together a billion strong to war against us.

Any major attack is gonna be based on rather sophisticated terrorist networks working in secure locations with some local government support, and access to sanctuaries in other nations. If that whole system is totally disrupted then the threat is gone for decades if not generations.
And VC, the point I am trying to make is that if a nuke levels Chicago, the American people likely arent gonna care any more about millions dying from radiationthan they did about what happened when ***an got nuked or German got saturation bombing that killed hundreds of thousands of citizens. I'm not aruging that this should happen, but just that it might happen if we get nuked.

No, it is not a game and if you are good with waterboarding then you should be good with more extreme forms of intelligence gathering. I am for whatever it may take to prevent an attack on the USA.
I don't consider retaliatory strikes as torture though. If the population of a country supports attacks against us then they should be prepared for our attacks against them. That was the point in firebombing Dresden or in Germany's bombing attacks on England or in our carpet bombing North Vietnam, to break the will of the population and end their support of their government.
