Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Huckabee won't recant AIDS statement

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/10/huckabee.aids/index.html

Huckabee is really wowing me right now. He stands behind everything he's said, he can reason away WHY he siad what he did, he can logically explain all his actions .........

I'm falling HARD for Huckabee

I agree Duane. I saw an interview by him this morning and he doesn't spin. He admitted he said what he said and explained his rational and the timing of when he said it. He even put his tax hikes in perspective which will take the thunder away from his enemies who would take it out of context. He is coming off as honest, sincere and a good moral guy with a wicked sense of humor. He has excelled in all the debates and can think on his feet. If the election were tomorrow I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He appears to be all that everyone hoped Thompson would be...but wasn't. We all are looking for a savior for our troubled government. He looks pretty presidential to me and will beat those stovepipe pants off Hillary.

He said he probably would not make the same statement today because of what is known about how HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, is transmitted.

"I had simply made the point -- and I still believe this today -- that in the late '80s and early '90s, when we didn't know as much as we do now about AIDS, we were acting more out of political correctness than we were about the normal public health protocols that we would have acted," Huckabee told Fox News on Sunday.
Maybe he didn't know how AIDS was transmitted in 92 but mostdid. Including the goverment.

Quote:
Now, would I say things a little differently in 2007? Probably so," Huckabee told Fox News. "But I'm not going to recant or retract from the statement that I did make because, again, the point was not saying we ought to lock people up who have HIV/AIDS."

Huckabee did not explain how individuals with HIV would have been isolated.
What would he have suggested AIDS colonies like the leper colonies of old?

I will agree that he is sharp on his feet compared to presidents we have had and most especially the current one. I am suspect of anyone the christian evangelicals supports, however. We need someone who supports the separation of church and state and I don't think he is it. We will soon become no different than the muslim nations where there is no separation of the two if we keep electing these guys who pander to evangelicals. For every step forward we take in this country it seems like many want to take it two steps back.

no different how??? in that we'd become a nation bent on ridding the world of islam, buddism, judaism, and every other religion of the world and killing/making servants of them in the process??? puhlease...

Yeah, our government would have to answer to religious leaders just like muslim governments do. This country does not need any such thing.

Separation of church and state is intended to keep the state out of the churches' business, for the protection of the church. Not the other way around.
