Watched it.
Now... if it's real, and not a staged piece for entertainment value, I think the idiots in the truck learned a lesson about why road rage is dangerous. IF THIS IS REAL the guy in the BMW could have easily made a mistake and killed someone, and that made me uneasy...however, beyond that I can't comment except to reitterate that the guys in the truck prompted the response.
I'm not excusing the response .... deadly force or the display of deadly force is a touchy thing... but he and the woman were pursued, and they were cornered by a superior force (2 guys against one guy and girl) and they did approach the couple with baseball bats....a definite threat with risk of bodily harm or being beaten to death.
Was he justified in pulling the gun? The courts or lawyers can decide. I tend to think he did what was necessary. Was he justified in taking their keys? I think it was prudent since they had already shown that they were willing to relentlessly pursue him. Should he have taken their camera? No, that was stealing. Besides taking it is one thing but then running it on YouTube has me thinking it's staged. Why would someone who pulls a gun want that exposed on the internet for any and all to review.
Would I have pulled a gun in a similar situation? I don't know. I have a Concealed Weapons permit for my state and sometimes carry it in the vehicle when traveling alone at night or when going into nasty neighborhoods in downtown Detroit and other unsavory places. But I would rarely have it handy in the vehicle while out for a drive. Besides, my rusty truck bumpers and NRA stickers in the window probably would have garnered respect and admiration from the 2 yahoos in the film.
I can't help but feel this was staged.
But, assuming it was real I think the guy was justified in turning the tables to his favor since the yahoo's cornered him and brought out weapons of their own first.
I've seen it before, and I believe it was staged. Boredmen with video cameras have produced some strangefootage since thge beginning of the motion picture industry.
I watched it twice. If it is staged, those are four Hollywood-callber actors. The spontaneous nature of the comments and reactions is awfully convincing.

I meant professional as in small-time theater. It might not even be that. There are a lot of bright people within the Internet culture wholose money trying to impress people and create urban legends. There is enough wit in the world to pull this off convincingly and be able to post it on YouTube.
I don't know if this is staged or not but find myself agreeing with 8mm about the stealing part. If somebody has chased you down with his vehicle, called you many abusive names and is now walking towards you with a baseball bat and continuing to call you terms of endearment, I think any prudent person would feel like they are likely in imminent danger of being assaulted and possibly killed with that bat. This guy chose to display his pistol and give the guy a chance to "put the bat down." Using his pistol probably did save that guy from getting seriously injured or killed. We probably all would have done things a little differently but this guy is still alive and unhurt to tell his story. I wouldn't have kept the camera or posted the video but that's just me.

I thought he'd have held the high road, if he'd chosen to leave the camera with the wacko Cannucks.
I"m not sure I'd have even brandished the pistol; instead I'd have chosen to have defused the situation earlier on by calling the Poe-leece or just going to a public place, instead of drawing the cowboys into what could have become a situation they'd have all regreted for a long itme.

RE: Interesting and controversial?
One night when I was 18 I went to a dog race with my Uncle's girlfriend (don't go there). Anyway, coming back, there was a 2 lane road, going up a hill, and this slow guy was in the fast lane. I flashed my brights to have him move over, he did, and when I passed him ? He immediately sped up, tailgating me, and I tried to outrun him but with the curves and car I was in, forget it. He was so close to bumping my fender, at maybe 60-70 mph's I knew the guy was goig to kill us by ramming us off the highway. I pulled over, and he gets out and he's a small muscular guy, wild hair, and drug pumped eyes, no shirt ... he grabs this big rock with two hands and starts smashing it into the drivers side window. I spun out, and the time it took him to get back in his truck and come after us again was enough time for me to run down a side road and let him pass.
VC - the police won't help you.
I was coming home with my wife and small children one night, I was behind this guy , he was trying to navigate a map or something, driving really slow, and I was trying to pass him as the passing lanes. I guess he took it as road rage tailgating and it wasn't, but when I passed, again I found myself with this pissed off guy tailgating me at 55 mph. I again pulled over - I do NOT want to be run off the road with my 1 and 3 year old in the back, he pulls in front of me, gets out and starts yelling for me to get out too. Yeah right. Anyway, before I pulled off I called 911 and told the operator I had a road rage situation. She said she couldn't help because it wasn't qualified as an emergency. Great. Anyway, I start backing up, he followed far enough I figured I could do the same as the above with the time it'd take for him to get back in his car, traffic etc. As I drove by him, the fool actually hit my car with his fist - that couldn't have felt good, leaving a dent in the top of my car.
I've driven many hundreds of thousands of miles guys. I once - and I'm not proud of this - tried to run a lady off the run and did drive her into the median and I 100% meant to - there a story there too BTW and I'll share it later. I've hadseveral of incidents, no kidding.
