This would turn the 2008 Presidential election BIGTIME
A voting system where people could log on or phone in their votes.
As it stands, only 30% vote consitantly. 35% vote every now and then. 35% don't vote at all.
If we could make it EASY to vote - and virtually gaurantee no cheating ? Most people would pick up the phone, or log on and that would change the 2008 election in a big way

Folks would probably complain that it would be unfair because some people (who would likely vote democrat) don't have computers or phones, even if they do have a satellite dish in the backyard.

Heck, we have a good many areas in this country that still have old style boxes where people slip in the ballots through the slot. They are then opened and the ballots counted by hand. A more up-to-date system like you mention would be asking too much of the most technologically advanced nation on earth!!

Yeah, just look what had happened in Florida with all the messed up votes...! I saw a show on the voting machines and how a simple card can make the vote work in favor of who installs it!!![:@]

you have a SS # don't you ?
with technology as it is, it would be EASY to identify duplciate SS# votes - and also easy to cross reference those SS#'s to people registered to vote, alive, and US citizens I'd think
pass a law that seriously punich any party caught cheating, and those doing it too
hundreds of thousands of votes are not counted every presidential election - the system is terrible
