Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Inch by inch...

She's getting closer and closer...

Our nation is quietly but highly disgruntled with the status of things inside the DC beltway. Gas prices, deficits, the loans debacle, the war, immigration, trade deficits, the dollar at or near record lows, looming threats of inflation and recession, outsourcing, and on and on.

Hillary is not only now very electable, despite the dismissal of that idea by many members of this board only months ago, she is probably very likely to win.

She was essentially the star of the debate and sort of the one that has to be beaten to even have a shot at the presidency in 2008. It seems all she needs to do is hang on and maintain as opposed to gaining ground on the others in short order.

Conservatives everywhere should take note and ask how and why we got to such a point. On this board, it seems to me, that whenever any serious criticism of the current admin is layed on the table it is dismissed quickly and staunchly. The bar seems to have been lowered for people with even a lesser conservative slant.

Defend stupidity at any cost and you are opening the door for Madame President. Once again, we'll hold our noses and vote for the one that stinks the least.

American politics has degraded into what it was never supposed to be. It is a rich man's game, and now it may be a rich woman's game too. Substance matters little. True "leaders" are as rare as hen's teeth.

We get what we deserve and those of you who insist on justifying and/or excusing stupidity, ignorance, and incompetence are culpable.

"Conservatives everywhere should take note and ask how and why we got to such a point."

It got this way because we Republicans did not hold our representative's feet to the fire. We let them get away with doing the bidding of of a president who was elected by a 5-4 voteof the US Supreme Court.

The Republicans in congress assumed that they had some kind of God given mandate to run roughshod over nearly everything. Pork barrel spending increased nearly expotentially during their reign. There was no oversight on anything.

As election time grew close last year the Republicans in congress trotted out their so called "American Values Agenda." This plethora of feel good stuff had always won elections for the Republicans in the past-how could it fail now? It failed because folks were tired oflies, half-truths and congressional scandals. The Republicans in congress even cut military brain injury research. After the election, the stunned Republicans did not come back to finishthe budget: Rather they picked up their broken marbles and went home.

There is a very good chance that Hillary Clinton is an unstoppable force. i wish that it were not so. Unfortunately, a lot of Republicans will stay away from the pollson election day because the stench is just too great. There isonly onedime's worth of difference between Rudy and Hillary.

Excellent analysis! I remember how conservatives thought Bush would be the greatest thing since sliced bread 8 years ago and how they thought he would solve all the nations problems after having 8 years of Clinton. Now they are claiming that he isn't even a conservative which really means jack since all of them were backing him 100% and would again if he were allowed to run again. In my opinion the conservatives had their day in the sun, have little to nothing to show for it and now the country wants something different. I still DO think that Hillary is not a sure thing to win the presidency. In fact I think the democrats would do better if they nominated someone else since she surely is their most polarizing candidate. Even many democrats are uneasy about her. If the republicans would somehow nominate a more conservative candidate like many on this board would want, they will surely lose the election because the American public has seen enough of their bullheaded tactics with zero results. If Rudy gets nominated, he has a really good chance of beating Hillary or any democrat. The conservatives will have to eat a lot of pride with him, but he is the best shot to keep the presidency with the republicans.

I agree completely with your last sentence where we deserve what we have gotten for justifying and excusing all the stupidity and incompetence over the years. Even Reagan, the conservative saint was a total dimwit when you really stop and look at him. He was terrific when he had the teleprompter in front of him, but he stammered and stuttered his way through everything else. It's a crying shame that we have close to 300 million people in this country and it seems that so few are interested in a leader that actually has a brain. This surely can't say much about our society, no matter how smart we think we really are in comparison to the rest of the world.

I've said it for 2 year now.

She'll get the dedicated Democrat votes
She'll get most all of the minoirty votes
She'll get the ***** votes
She'll get a lot of young women votes who probably wouldn't otherwise vote, just to get a woman elected

Dem's put forth stupid Gore and Dork Kerry and ALMOST won twice .... tack on that conservative voters aren't voting Republican this year because of the failure of the party ?

Hillary wins 70% of the votes, an electoral landslide, and we have a lady President folks. Mark it down, set it in stone

That one's getting a bit tired. A) I thought the post Supreme Court decision recounts in Florida indicated that Bush did, in fact, carry the state; and B) Do you really think things would have been better under Algore?

Admittedly, things have stunk a bit. But, do you really think it's wise to stay home? The supporters of one of the candidates two will get their free bus rides to the polls, and by staying home, you pretty much ensure the election of the one who smells most like rotten fish.

GW Bush has done very little on what his potential was. He was elected because of what we thought he could do - he's let all of us down as has the entire Republican Party

At least the Democrats DO what they say they will, agree with their beliefs of not ....

I've been saying this for 2 years. Hillary Clinton will be the next POTUS.

Our only hope is that she's a terrible president (which I think she will be) and somebody like Newt can come in 2012 and beat her. The damage will have already been done though. Once people get their entitlement programs they can never be taken away.

Keep saving your money, get out of debt, and be ready to get the hell out of this country ASAP.... [:-]

This is something that can't seem to sink into most conservatives heads, especially those who think they would win with an even more conservative candidate this time out. Just won't happen, especially after Bush stinking up the nation for the last 8 years. He may not be this true conservative they would have preferred, but he had their full support so everyone is guilty by association here for the failures and the majority of Americans will now want a change.
