Those of you who have been members for a while will remember that moderators and admin previously had the option of giving a member a temporary ban of 1, 2 or 3-days in lieu of a permanent ban (permaban). With the new software changes, we no longer have that option or capability.
Although all of us are striving to handle as many rules violations as possible through PM's and/or email warnings, there are some occasions when only a ban seems to get a recalcitrant member's attention. Unfortunately, admin will now only have permaban capability so such decisions will be final.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM or email admin and/or a mod. We will do our best to get the situation resolved and try to avoid having anybody get permanently banned. The vast majority of members post responsibly and simply don't create such a problem. Those few who insist on always living on the edge, however, should seriously consider toning it down and saving the rambunctiousness for other websites. We all enjoy the special and unique community that HNI has to offer and all of you are valued members. Argue the points but please don't flame or insult other members. Thanks in advance.

Nobody is in the dutch, this is simply a heads up on a rules change due to new software limitations. Permanently banning am member is still a last resort and is avoided at all costs possible as HNI is a special place because of so many diverse and divergent (they're not always the same thing) personalities. Unfortunately with the new software, some of the intermediate steps (like temporary banning) have simply been removed.[&o]
