Default How you like these apples. Social security could cause some pain

Got this in an email today. What do you all think about it?

Social Security Changes

It does not matter if you personally like or dislike Bush You need to sign this petition and flood his e-mail box with e-mail's that tell him that, even if the House passes this bill, he needs to veto it. It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone. If the government gives benefits to "illegal" aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave those of us who have paid into Social Security all our working lives?
As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow "illegal" aliens access to Social Security benefits. Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to that social service.

Instructions are below.

If you don't forward the petition and just stop it, we will lose all these names. If you do not want to sign it, please just forward it to every one you know.
Thank you!
To add your name, click on "forward" or better yet, "copy and paste" if you know how. You will be able to add your name at the bottom of the list and then forward it to your friends.

When the petition hits 1,000, send it to comments@whitehouse.gov

Instructions are below.

Dear Mr President:
We, the undersigned, protest the bill that the Senate voted upon recently which would allow illegal aliens to access our Social Security.
We demand that you and all Congressional representatives require citizenship as a prerequisite for social services in the United States .

We further demand that there not be any amnesty given to illegals, NO free services, no funding, no payments to and for illegal immigrants.
We are fed up with the lack of action about this matter and are tired of "paying" for services to illegals!

Instructions to sign are at the bottom.

I know online petitions mean nothing, that is why I took the names off. I did not know that this had passed. Its new news to me.

Dont illegal immigrants actually help social security by often paying in it for a few years then going back to mexico and never collecting. Or, they pay in using a stolen social security number and all that money gets credited to the real number holder.

Seems to me that if the money was getting "credited to the real number holder", that that real number holder would be facing an audit for not reporting all of his income on his 1040...

It would seem so,but maybe the IRS and SS folks do not communicate. In cases of stolen identity where the stealer worksthe IRSwill hassle the person whose identitywas stolen.

Jps,

I don't know, that is just one of the scenarios that i heard and would like to hear peoples opinions about. Dunno if it was on here or eslewhere that someone had discovered that an illegal was using their social security number. When they reported it,they were advised to let him continue doing it sinceallthe social security money would be hi in the long run. Would the IRS even waste time auditing someone over extra social secutity payments from someone making minium wage?

I'd a whole lot rather be responsible for my own money than an entity that wants to give it away to those who don't deserve it, if there was a legal way to withdraw my contributions from SS and invest them privately I'd pull out in a minute. SS is just another step toward socialism.

My mom has MS and had to start drawing SS a few years ago after she started losing her vision and couldnt stand or use her hands for long periods.

After being repeatedly denied and dealing with doctors from all over the state and several lawyers she was finally given her benifits.About 2 years later she got a letter saying they were cancelling them because she failed to claim income she was still making. The funny thing was we live in Iowa and the "income" she was making was being reported in Texas. As it turns out there was an illegal using her SS number and reporting thier wages on it.Thanks to our govts total inability to put 2+2 together it didnt matter and she had to start the entire process of appeals to SS over again but couldnt do anything untill they could prove someone had stolen her ss#.It was a freaking nightmare to deal with for a couple hundred bucks a month that she was recieving but they needed the medical portion of it.

I have no problem believing people get audited over this, once its reported your not a person, just a number in some beuracrats computer and you get treated as such.
