Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default "Made in China"

Need to vent. For those of you keeping up with recent news, you are probably aware of all the recalls and warnings placed on "toxic" goods coming out of China. Everything from kids toys, backpacks, fake Halloween teeth in addition to many other toxic filled products. Stories continue to pour out regarding toxic products being imported from China.

Have you been paying attention grocery shopping lately? Take a look at frozen fish and see where it"™s from, "Product of China". After Halloween, I went through all my daughters candy and pitched everything that said "product of China". Do you honestly think food products from China are going to be safe to eat?

Why in the world would America need any food products from China? There is no FDA in China and they can raise fish in toxic cesspools and ship it off to a supermarket near you. Since, <1% of food imports actually get inspected, there"™s a good chance this toxic garbage ends up on your plate. I am not willing to take a chance. There is no Clean Water Act in China either. Fish ponds are cesspools. We have plenty of clean lakes and ponds in America to get fish from. Why do we need to import meat from China and Mexico when I can look out my window and see a field full of cows (I live in the farm belt)?

From now on, my family has now put a ban on all China made goods. Or at least we will consciously try. I urge all others to do the same. It"™s the only way we can provoke a change.

Don"™t look for our gov't to come to the rescue. Our elected officials are so deeply indebted to China they aren"™t going to rock that boat. Just take a look and see how much China contributes to the next US election. Both parties equally share the blame.

Not to mention, if Chinese investors decided to pull out of the US stock market, it would collapse. That is a fact. China nearly owns America. Did you know that PetrolChina became the first trillion dollar company in the world?

But we as consumers equally share the blame. Americans are infatuated with "shiny new trinkets from China". It seems we can"™t buy enough of that disposable crap. People have become so cheap that price trumps quality. People, it seems, would rather have 10 pieces of junk, than one nicely made trinket.

I work for a company that produces recreational goods. Used to be we made everything in the USA. We started losing business because a competitors copied our product with Chinese made junk for a nickel less. Consumers don"™t care about longevity, they want cheap junk. This mentality fuels the problem.

I'll quit my rant now, but it just boils my blood.

The great majority of Americans lack the willingness to do anything like that for any length of time.

My wife bought some fish fillets that we found out were from China. In the trash they went. Nearly every damn consumer product is made in China. Part of the problem is the decline in real wages in this country. There has been a rapid proliferation of "dollar" stores in this area because folks work their butts off and still cannot make ends meet.

Be careful of stuff from Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops and other sporting goods stores. Most of their stuff is made in China. Recently i orderedcrossbow bolts from Cabela's. The were made in China. The fletching was much farther forward on the bolts than on the made in USA ones. They came shoved into the plastic containers. The fletching on all of them were bent. Sent them back and had bolts made up at the local bow shop.

Beware of Leupold and Weaver scope mounts and rings. Most of them are made in China. i will not buy another damn scope, mount or archery produce or anything else that ismade in China until i have made every effort to find a made in the USA item, even a used one.

The scumbags who are running this country are in the pockets of US corporations and the Red Chinese:We need to replace every damned one of them in 2008.

The Made in China trend started decades before any of the most recent scumbags (or the scumbags before them) were around. As long as folks can buy it dirt cheap at Walmart, they're not gonna care and the trend will continue.

Look closely at products that were made in US that are sold by WalMart and Home Depot for instance. The quality of the product is not equal to the same models sold in smaller retail stores. To drive price lower a large company like Home Depot will redesign a product to look just like the original but it will be cheaper to manufactor and have less quality. They use their buying power to force the manufactorer to make a cheaper model for them and unless you compare side by side you won't see the difference. Check out the higher end gas grills for an eye opener.

There is a LOT of idiocy among American consumers. Just take a look at the FEC finance reports and see who has collected the most money...

Slave labor lets you sell your items cheaply. We dont have slave laborers in america unless you count the $5.15 an hour illegals Even at that price, the chinese would kill to make that much an hour VS a few pennies per hour.
