Little Man, a homeless cat from Gainsville, recuperates after being injured from a cat fight.[/align]

Little Man, a young homeless cat from a trailer park in Gainesville whose throat was ripped apart in a catfight, is recuperating. But the vet bills that paid for his surgeries are mounting.

That"s why Dewey Animals, a non-profit cat rescue group, is inviting people to listen to Soul Kitty 6, a local cover band, Saturday to raise money to help pay for the injured cat"s vet bill.

Starting at 9 p.m., Saturday Soul Kitty 6 will play at Brother"s Encore, 5135 Waterway Drive in Montclair.

Saturday's event is being held to raise money for Little Man, who his caretaker suspects was attacked by a larger Tomcat.

So far, the vet bill is $1,400. Little Man was expected to get his stitches removed from his back, leg and throat Friday.

"Because he"s feral the caretaker didn"t realize how bad the situation was," said Pam, president of Dewey Animals, who asked that her last name not be printed. She said people often find names of cat rescue group participants then abandon animals on their doorsteps.

"They had to rebuild the area around his throat. His throat and his leg were so bad they had to put catheters in those areas," she said. "It was an enormous amount of money."

Dewey Animals, a volunteer feral cat rescue group, promotes trapping, neutering, vaccinating and returning wild cats back to their habitats.
Donations are tax deductible.

There will be a kitty wishing well at Brother"s Encore where participants can drop some coins into the fountain. Restaurant gift certificates, cat and dog calendars and an Animal Planet t-shirt will be raffled.

People who are not able to attend, but who want to make a tax deductible donation to help pay for Little Man"s vet bills can send a check to Dewey Animals, Inc., P.O. Box 245, Centreville, Virginia 20122-0245. They can also email dewey.animals@cox.net for more information.

So Mrs. Six is reading through the local news a few minutes ago, yelling the headlines to me while I eat a taco in the kitchen, and we come across this thing. They're raising $1400 for a feral cat that nature had selected for death? You have got to be kidding me. Now there's going to be this maimed cat limping around, totally dependent on a bunch ofcat ladiesfor food, shelter, and care. Where's tardfarmer when you need him?

Perhaps HNI will allow stealthy cat in the original form to comment on a one time basis. Then again he is busy at the moment chasing trophy whitetails all around the Land of OZ.

Why not just open up a Chinese restuarant?

I thought from the title that this was going to be about some cat hunt, kind of like the ground squirrel wars.

Those are the same type of people that would yawn if you suggested putting that kind of effort into helping a person in need.

And it is a wonderful policy to return feral cats to nature. But, at leastit gives guys like me something to do on a lazy winter afternoon when the cats are prowling along side the road[8D]

Doesn't this just scream to get moved to the taco thread in Offseason?

I can't say I've ever had a cat worth $1400. Lately, I've been trapping and getting rid of strays. I could have sold them a new cat for $1000, and they would have saved $400.

Shoot, send me that cash and Ill buy a box of shells and fix the problem real quick. Gawd, some people are just as dumb as the day is long. I wonder why they dont help all the poor animals that nature selects to die.
