I was at my kids soccer game today and noticed yet another one of these annoying little devices, I really hate them.Have you all seen or possibly used one of those child leashes they sell now?I dont know why but these things irritate me to no end, why would you put a leash on your kid.If I tied my kid to me with a piece of rope around thier waste theyd probably have me arrested for child abuse but you put a harness and a cute monkey head on it and it is perfectly acceptable to tie your kid up to go out in public.Seriously am I missing something here or dont these people know how to control thier kids without restraints? It was a nice day, theres 80 acres or room thats wide open and kids playing all over and there sat these few kids tied to thier moms and grandmas. Why not just put a shock collar on them, if they get away ten you could just give em a light zap, it wouldnt be much worse IMO.
I'd have to see the situation and know the kids better. No, a leash can be helpful with some children, at some ages, depending on how adventurous they are. It beats having them wandering off to be snatched by a perp, or breaking hundreds of dollars of glassware in a store. I would not expect the youngster having any delays over this if done prudently.

Not as much as seeing the husband on a leash hooked to a nose ring.

I have used one in the past( they've been around longer than you might think), and they're great for keeping a particularly rambuctious child under control. Some kids just don't or won't respond to verbal correction. No different to me than those "Child proximity" alarms that alert you when your kid wanders off. If you have multiple toddlers on an outing they can really come in handy.
