House committee narrowly approved a resolution that labels the killings of Armenians in Turkey during World War I as "genocide."

Turkish officials had warned approval of the resolution could jeopardize U.S. relations with their country, a NATO member that has been a key U.S. ally in the Middle East and a conduit for sending supplies into Iraq.
They won't cut funding for the troops, so they will work toward our owndefeat by turning our support and our allies against us. Go Domecrats!!!!

The country of Turkey was not even in existence when the "massacre" took place.
Well, since Turkey wasn't in existence then, why would they get upset??
I read the article and did not see where the country of Turkey was condemned...said the ottoman empire.
Since Germany is our ally should we pretend there was no genocide there??
Heck, there was genocide here. Native Americans. I don't see how that reflects what our country stands for now.
I know you have to play touchy-feely politics so as not to offend our allies sometimes, still (if there was genocide) should we pretend there wasn't? Is that what gives the U.S. it'smuddied political relations with Sudan, ignoring the truth for our own gain (although extremely little gain, by the way of intelligence from Sudan, from what I've heard)???

Also, can we not move on. Like pointed out, there has been lots of genocide in the past. Lets have a nonbinding resolution to state that giving the indians small pox infested blankets, genocide.

The motivation and timing of this is the problem. Turkey is a critical conduit for our supplies. We had to work hard to earn their cooperation, and now the dems found a way to damage that. Why?

yep... Can't cut funding, so they take steps that they know will be a huge insult to one of our allies, thereby cutting off the food/water/fuel supply lines for our troops. I take back what I said in the other thread about Democrats only being good at figuring out how to reach deeper into my pocket so as to redistribute my meager wealth. They're also good at figuring out new ways to give aid and comfort to the enemy. Traitors.

"am I the only one sick of these nonbinding resolutions? Good grief, dont they have real work to do. Im so sick of the cheerleading."
Nope, you are not the only onewho is sick of the idiotic attempts to stop the war in Iraq and all the other Mickey Mouse liberal political statements by Pelosi and her crowd. We are into FY 08 and the budget is not passed. Maybe they are out to beat the do nothing record oflast years congress, maybe they already have.
If i don't soon stop thinking about Pelosi and her crap i may be forced to pig hunting again.
