So, I always thought a vote for the republican candidate is worthy, if for no other reason, than to keep a democrat out. Now, I'm contemplating staying home on election day, or maybe voting third party, out of protest more than anything. I used to always believe that not voting was irresponsible, and voting third party would only be good if the candidate actually stands a chance of winning. That is, a vote for Ross Perot was actually a vote for Bill Clinton.
So I'm torn between electing an undeserving piece of crap candidate from the republican party, or helping to elect a socialist, high taxing, anti-2nd democrat.
If the republicans would just get together and put forth a CONSERVATIVE candidate, like Huckabee, I would vote for them for sure. Heck, I might ven contribute money (which I have never done) to that kind of candidate.
How much have you listen to the canidates platforms? How much of the crap being spewed out there on the canidates records have your heard? I bet the latter is correct response.
I've heard some speaches from a lot of the canidates and frankly, I like what some of their ideas are. I've not made up my choice yet but then again it's over by the time I get to pick. Maybe this year will be different. I'm hoping for a very tight primary race.
Fortunately for the Republicans, the Demsdon't seem to want a through process. They just seem to want to pick Hillary in the primary, skip the general and go straight to Jan 20th. I think this is a major mistake on their part. They tried this in the last two elections and then blamed their lost on everything but themselves.

In a recent poll, Americans want a third party!
Chuck Hagel will not run for his seat as senator in the next election, Said if he was to run for President it will be as an independent!
He also said the Republican party no longer represents what it did in the 60's when he joined after returning from Vietnam.

America doesn't know what they want. Recent polls showed 43% want goverment healthcare yet the same poll showed 73% liked their healthcare the had. These polls exist so that someone has a job and people can feel good about themselves. Polls are nothing more then asking the question the right way to get the answer you want.
As far as independents out there. Hardly someone who knows what they want. The're nothing more then wanting to follow the crowd. They want to see which side everyone's on so they can jump on the winning side every time.

I know you are just stiring the pot, but ill have to go with Fielmouses response. I will vote for the one candidate who shares similar views with me. Even if it is a little. Party is no issue with me. Just happens that the Demos have not shared many views with me in a long time.

You are right, the Demos keep pushing left while most of America is setting in the middle. I think they have an advantage in one aspect; People always get tired of a two term candidate and the party he is associated with. I hope it is not true in this case. I really dont want to see the Socialism that Clinton is going to impose on us.

Every time I go back and mess with that "candidate calculator" thing-a-ma-jig on the internet (click here: www.vajoe.com/candidate_calculator.html ), it keeps coming up with Mike Huckabee for me. 95.33%, 93.1%, 87.42%, depending on what I choose. I got Fred Thompson ONCE, and I can't remember what I did or what I changed.
I just hope Huckabee can gain more ground in the polls and be a true top tier candidate, over Guliani, Thompson, Romney, etc...
Write yourself in. That's what I do in situations such as yours.
It never ceases to amaze me exactly how passionate third party supporters are, but when you consider that these people are all branching out in all directions, I doubt anything will come of their wishes. What good is getting rid of one of the major parties if it's replaced by three or four smaller fringe parties?
