Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default This is for Big tiny, phil and anyone else in midlife

I'm posting this because of Big Tiny's story on how far he has come in life and Phil, I hope you can tke this to heart as your looking for your next job and/or career. This picture/quoteI got from my grandfather who made quite a chunk of money off and invention back in the 50's. If you wondering if I'm a benifitingof that fortune, no I'm not. I'm doing it on my own like he did.

However, on to this picture. I don't know the author because it's not signed. Ithung directly in front of my desk so I could read it everyday before I started my day. I had a house fire and the wierdest thing occurred. This picture faired great and still hung in the same spot even though the wall right aboveand to the right of the frame was missing due to the fire. It's has been my desk top image on my PC ever since that fire. So enjoy or ignore it and move on.

Thanks Fieldmouse, I may not come across to you very good but I could very well surprise you with some of the stuff I do. If I was laid off work tommorrow I wouldn't have to big of a problem finding work. It is a problem to pack my family up and move to another area and loose all that I have worked for. Unlike the farmers or others that get gov grants exc... I feel soory to those farmers and their families as well when they loose all they have worked for as well. This gov of ours for as far as I am concerned has sold this country out and needs to be brought back on track..

I also have an invention that I would not share here as with anything you need capital to move things ahead. I am very stubborn in that area so will wait it out until I have enough to get it patented.. Thanks You..

Since' it's a politics forum, I will add some of Al Gore's words. It's not called luck, its "winning life's lottery."

Sorry but that doesn't sound like success to me. Is a man truly successful who hasn't time to play?? Not to me.

Phil,
I'm on my way today to speak with a Patent Attorney. I've been down this road many times before. Filed once but it didn't go through. Could have refiled but have choose to move on. The market is still there but yes it does take capital. My latest idea, I don't believe it can be patented. I think it fails the obvious test. However, the point of my meeting is to see how I can protect my design. The market is there and this one won't take a lot of capital to get going.

To save some costs, you can go to google and click on patent search as one of their special search engines. This was reccomended by a friend who is a Patent Attorney. He prefers this over going to the goverment site.

Second, a patent is only as good as the attorney's and money behind it to defend it. It costs big bucks to defend one in court. A big corp will look at someones finacial ability to decide if they ignore your patent or negotiate paying for it's use. It takes millions and many years to fend off infringements or to win compensation. I could tell you many stories and one involves a childhood friend and Lionel trains of which he won the judgement, but still has lost because of their filing for bankruptcy. That case is still on going and will be for another 10 years.

Good luck!

I didn't realize until I got hurt how much time I was spending away from my family and, well, everything else. My job had me working over 55 hours per week of sheduled time, and when you add court time to that, there wasn't much left for anything else. I have custom made golf clubs I haven't swung much since 1994 (I played in two Rick's Cabaret tournaments in 2000 and 2001) and while living in the Gulf South, I went fishing once. My next career is going to be more sustainable, something I can work at into my 70's at least. I'll have to do it on my own, as I am now too old to go to work somewhere and expect a retirement. That's okay with me, it will be fun, and hopefully, something I can pass on.
