My wife does the thankless job of volunteering for little league football. Not to just toot her horn but everyone else on the board putting in the hours to take a program that was hurting to a point where they may get county practice fields and some grants. Currently we practice in an old farm's front yard in exchange for cutting the grass.
To the rant: To encourage asnd reward kids for stepping up every week and in the game, the idea was to give away a game ball but quickly shifted to a "Gold" helmet. This both awards the players and uses up the old helmets we were able to replace this year. When the board went to the other 9-10 team in our program, several parents spoke up and questioned why the whole team wasn't getting a helmet and why would you award just one? Someone's feelings might get hurt. That comment pissed me off and the up roar has lead to scratching this idea.[:@] The board will pass a rule and leave it up to the coaches for their own thing they want to do. It kills me because one of the first lines in the charter says this is a competative sport/league.
I blame this squarely on liberal thinking and our poor education system we have today. No longer are we allowed to play tag or dodge ball. Heck, I remember back in my day when qouddies (sp) was begining to get you suspended.[&o]

Exactly. You have got to let the 200 pound, 12 year old girl be a cheerleader if her whiney liberal mommie wants her to be one.Winners are not allowed in our whiney, wussey butted liberal society.
The PC "teachers" of today would pee all over themselves if they could be transported back to a one room school in WV in 1951 and have Jug Nelson and I shooting acorns at each other with slingshots during the lunch hour. Wewore those WWII drivers goggles and did aim for the head.
Dang, I still have a bb in my check from our games. I also remember the long fall days collecting acorns and building the forts. My family still encourages the kids today when we visit grandma's. Falcon, how awesome would it have been to have paint ball back then???
I think it also comes from parents not being parents today. I mean they spend so much time glossing over the self esteem part "your the best". They don't know how to talk honestly to their kids and don't want to spend the time it takes to show them how to get better and achieve. They don't know how to present failure in a positive way. It's always negative.

I don't know why liberals are the whipping boys for any change in the school athletics. Probably just convenient.
or just maybe they might be behind the feel good policies!

It is much more than convenience. Liberals put too much emphasis on something calledself esteem. They rationalize that Jesus shot Willie because Jesus "suffers" from low self esteem. They rationalize games where there are no winners or losers. Everyone who plays their games are "rewarded" equally.Parents lack the abilityto sit down with their kid and say: "You played well and lost. It is not all about winning: It is about playing the game.Just keep on playing."
This liberal attitude carries over into everything. A few years ago there was a huge flap because the Citadel denied admission to a female. It was painfully obvious to the most casual observer that the female in question was overweight and out of condition and would not be able toendure the physical rigors of a military cadet. Guess what, not one reporter ever brought up the fact that the lady was overweight: This would have been very un-PC. She was admitted to the Citadel, could not hack it physically and was expelled.
Never mind that officers at the Citadel did not dare to state the obvious that the woman was overweight and out of shape. The whiney liberal media would have crucified them.
We see that exact same mentality here as well. When I was a kid playing football, we got little stickers every time we made a good hit. I floated the idea of doing the same for my son's football team, and many of the parents of kids on the team said that a few kids would get all the stickers. So be it! If you can't teach kids about hard work and reward, losing and winning, how in the heck are they going to make it in the real world later on?
Another example is not keeping score, even at the ages of 6 and 7 in some leagues/sports activities.
At the Citadel, the young lady in question left -- she was not expelled. I don't see what that had to do with any liberal attitude. It seems the media is able to print the statistics on a number of female athletes. I don't know if the lady's athletcism (or lack thereof) was relevant as to her admittance to the Citadel. And I thinks she was a high school athlete.
Just blame everything bad on liberals and hope that something eventually sticks.
