Can aid for mortgage holders be far behind.Taxpayers are getting
shafted again because a whole gaggle ofdid not readtheir contracts.
"ASHINGTON - Offering federal help for strapped mortgage holders, President Bush is proposing to aid hundreds of thousands of borrowers hard hit by the housing slump.

The president on Friday was to talk about several initiatives and reforms to help homeowners with risky mortgages keep their homes, a senior administration official said Thursday. Bush also was to discuss efforts to prevent these kinds of problems from arising in the future."
Another case of you and me bailing out idiots for doing something stupid.
Exactly! Those buyers knew they were taking on a sub-prime loan because they had shaky credit. The lenders are just as guilty, they knew they were taking on risky borrowers. Both were stupid for doing it and don't deserve to be bailed out.
Quote:
White House press secretary Tony Snow said he could not provide an estimate of how much the proposals would cost taxpayers or what affect they would have on the housing market. He bristled at questions about why the measures had not been taken sooner. "I'm sure we'll have plenty of time for backseat driving," Snow said.
Why should the taxpayer have to pay anything? We didn't sign the notes, they did! [:@]

It's freaking New Orleans all over again. On the same day that Bush is in New Orleans, telling folks that the feds have spent $114 Billion dollars, or some ridiculous amount that I don't recall specifically, I was seeing interviews on TV of folks.... "Waaah, Waaah... I haven't gotten mine. Where's my money?" Go to hell, morons. We've already been paying your rent for two years. You built your house in a bowl, below sea level. What did you think was going to happen?

I know huh? The insurance companys wouldn't even insure those houses BEFORE Katrina because they know it was a bad investment. They need to just quit whining and find a new job and a new house in an area thats not below sea level.

RE: Bush Wants Aid For Home Buyers
Dont worry, the 9th ward in New Orleans, is going to get rebuilt on our tax dollars. Mark my words. If you ask me, the 9th ward needs to be off limits. Why build agian below sea level.

Life has dealt you the bad hand of living in the slums of New Orleans, and worse than that, you have to live below sea level on the gulf coast. You know that it is just a matter of timebefore the big one will hit and fill up the bowl you live in with water. That huge storm finallycomes and forces you out of the situation, and you are no longer there.
Why go back to that situation?

I agree with everyone here on the issue of living below sea level,,rebuilding in the same area and all that but,,, If the govt tells these folks that their gonna give them assistance,,,then as far as im concerned,,they should be held liable to do so,,,these friggin politicians are quick to spout off everytime there is a disaster about "ohhhh you can count on us" and in the end this govt is the very lastbody that an american family can count on, Either the govt or the agencies that they appoint to handle these issues are so friggin incompitent or greedy that the funds get spent in devious ways or as one newscaster reported that funds from Katrina were sent to prisoners in jail in other states and their family members. I dont claim to have all the answers but after watchin alot of news on this issue lately,,,i have come to the conclusion that the folks in La. deserve the money alot more than some of the other ways that the monies get spent.
Everything I've seen (limited stuff) it's not a bail out but the goverment getting out of the way and easing the restrictions to get a loan. In truth, the home owners already have this power but are too dumb to excercise it. The last thing the lenders want is that home in this market. The home owner need to get down and do some tough negotiating for better terms. The lenders will absolutely listen.
For New Orleans and other disasters. Major mistake for the Goverment getting involve with any private rebuilding. It only slows down the process and hooks people on the goverment Tit even more. I've been to New Orleans and have met both, those who were waiting and still are and those who busted their behinds and are back to living in their home months after the disaster. Goverment only needs to rebuild the public infrastructure and jobs to go to the local resisdents first before hiring outside workers.
