Basically, every state has more overweight and obese people. Kids are fatter. Even the poor are fat (seems like less money would mean less food, i.e. lower weight, but the cheapest food in our country is also the most fattening.)
All states and D.C. are ranked, if you are interested in looking.
This study uses the BMI, which can be deceiving, but for most of the population is a good indicator of "fatness."
Weight is one of thosehard issues because you seem to have so many on the extreme ends of the spectrum. But nowthey have so many more conviences than they used to.How many video games do they have out there? And they continue to make more. Kids are in the house watching t.v., surfing the internet and sitting around. Americans are to "busy" to work-out. You have the work aholics, the guys that get paid less so they work more hours, the parents who spend almost as much time running their kids around that they areeating out but the parents themselves are getting no excercise. The list can go on and on. They lack a healthy routine and self control. Regulating resteraunts I think is stupid. If you don't know by now that you are going to get fat by eating fast food everyday that is your problem. McDonalds didn't make you eat their food, in fact you paid them. The parents need to start making healthy choices so that the kids will. I have seen mothers dump Mt Dew in their kids baby bottles, but did the company tell them too? No it is because she was to lazy to get off her duff and get the baby some milk. I say it is laziness andlack of self control.
I used to think people in the electric carts at grocery stores had health problems that made walking too difficult of impossible. A local survey showed that most people use them because the "don't feel like walking."

That annoys the hell out of my wife when she sees someone who's obviouly able using those carts, especially since she's one of the folks who actually need one.

RE: America continues to get fatter!
Yes it is. I have really noticed this in the last 10 years. The kids I teach in public school are getting larger, and Ive noticed the College kids I tutor are really getting big. I went to a Nursing school graduation two days ago. Some of my tutiees were graduation, and I swear there was only two people on stage that did not meet the specs of being over weight, and the majority easily met the specs of being obese.

ive noticed that as well, and have been sickend by it. IF anything, they need to be walking. I saw a man around 350+ lbs, at about 5'4' snatch one up before a little old lady with a walker could get it. It was all I could do to keep from lossing my crap on him. If the greeter hadnt went and got another, i would have lost my cool. My wife kept saying," dont get involved, dont show your ares."[:@]
