Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Minneapolis Bridge: Opportunity for More Political BS.

I did not personally hear, but have heard on at least one local Twin Cities radio station that I frequently listen too and give good credibility to for stating facts, that President Bush took the opportunity when addressing the tragedy of the bridge fall (yesterday), to bash the Democraps for not putting allocated funding into issues such as bridge repairs and instead using for things such as light rail, thus being at least in part to blame.

I understand that this was likely in reponse to blame Dubyafeels cominghis way, but not even 24 hours after the tragedy, bodies still not cold yet.
IMO no particular person or group is to blame for the bridge failing and the loss of life/injury, but Dubya again showed that he deserves his horrible approval rating.
I get that he realizes that he is in the toilet, not going to recover with his remaining time in office, and is a "party man" looking to take an opportunity to pimp the Neo-cons, but not even 24 hours later? Pathetic, whiney and an embarassment!
He could have at least waited a week or so, until after the dead were burried and the situation was a bit clearer. Of course that would requirethe ability to be a compasionateLEADER.

Before you take off on a tangent, you should probably take the time to verify that he said these things. I'm not saying he didn't, but I haven't heard anything about such comments.

I did see this story from Minnesota Public Radio where some politicians in Minnesota are starting to play politics with the incident.

Kinda sums up your rant if Bush didn't say these things you say that he said.

Like I said to start the thread I was listening to a local radio station, www.kfan.com regarding the presidents comments. I have yet to be able to actually listen myself. You are welcome to follow this link, and listen to the podcast of the Power Trip morning show from today, 8/3/07 and listen to what I heard. Once I find something written I will be sure to post it.

Its pretty obious to me whats going to follow in the next few weeks, there will be much anger, the finger pointing will begin starting at the local level then working its way up through the state level where it will finally hit the national level.

Investigations will be launched, the contractors and bridge architect will be persecuted, people that have only driven on bridges will be on national television, they will become overnight engineers with masters in bridge building and add there .02 cents to the fray.

Lawsuits will erupt all over the state.

Immediate safety checks will be implemented nation wide on anything crossing a body of water, all these things will not come cheaply and the money nobody had to fix the roads to begin with will be squandered on multiple investigations, many of which will have nothing to do with the bridge itself.

There will probably be rumors going around the internet like wildfire, conspiracy theorists will claim its the govt covering up a terrorist attack, Kathsung should enlighten up on those developments if he hasnt already begun.

And in the end, when its all said and done someone, somewhere will come on the television and say it was a structural failure and nobody could have forseen it, theyll give a description of the failure that 98% of americans cant comprehend anyway and it'll fade into the past as distant memory except to those involved and the failies of the deceased.

Suppoose Im close to the mark on this one?

I think you are likely fairly accurate, except that it will not fade away anytime soon for us who live in the Twin Cities.
