Sen. Robert Byrd (D-West Va.) trashed Vick on the Senate floor on Thursday, even kinda-sorta suggesting that he wouldn't mind Vick being executed for his alleged dog-fighting operation that includes charges of killing his own dogs in gruesome ways. Byrd is apparently known for being a big animal-lover and at 89 might have some (well-looked-after) bats in his belfry, yet those are some strong sentiments nonetheless.

I saw the tape of it on CNN this morning. He was indeed emotional about his speech. The only problem is he was almost alone on the floor. There were about a dozen visiting tourists there to act as recipients of his speech.

He appeared quite old and his hands were shaking like he had parkinsons disease. Very emotional speech but probably time for some new blood in his seat. I can't imagine he getsmuch done at age 89. Term limits anyone?
