Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Darfur

Over the weekend i saw the first commercial on local TV calling for immediate UN intervention in Darfur. Since then i have seen a number of bumperstickers expressing pretty much the same sentiment. If the U.S. does get involved with this, will we be saviors or imperialistic swine??

Since Wya thinks he's god answer to world peace anyway lets just borrow some more of our kids money from China and throw it at this lose ,lose situation.
How is it that places to poor to grow food can arm every one with an automatic weapon and one or two rocket propelled grenades.

Tell me again why we support the U.N. ?

And besides Chinaneeds their oil so let them deal with it. []

I don't think that the U.S. will do much of anything in the near future. If Bush's successor gets us involved it will be interesting to see peoples reactions to it based on whether it is a Dem or Rep president.

Since when was George the answer to world peace? I'm not sure I follow you on this one. We have no national interest in darfur so why would we get involved.

I'm all for cutting of UN aid and kicking them out of the country.

Words of wisdom there. We should only get involved when we have a national interest, like all the other countries in the world do. There seems to be a double standard against the US, and quite frankly, many on the left ONLY want to get involved in foreign affairs when there is NO US interest. That's simply idiotic!

Unless they find oil in Darfur, we're going to be imperialistic swine. We do not possess unlimited military resources, so we have to be careful where we deploy. It only makes sense that we do the right thing in parts of the world where we have an interest.

Two words in that quote are redundant. I'll let folks figure it out.

Gentleman, I would like to point out, for the record, that many of us on the left feel that US troops should only be committed when US national interests are at stake, like in Afghanistan. Similarly we opposed the war in Iraq based upon the same principal: we felt that US security interests were not at stake.

But we've been through this before, if I recall.

Carry on.

Unfortunately to come to that conclusion you have to turn a blind eye to the reason for the invaison and rewrite why we went.
