From what I'm hearing on the radio this morning this thing is going to die today!
A few Senators have said that they are getting calls 100 to 1 against this bill and it"™s the reason they will be changing their vote. I guess if we just don"™t let up they get the point. I"™ve told both my senators multiple times if they vote for it that I"™ll never vote for them again. lol

So I said "Do you love me?" & she said, "No, but that's a really nice ski mask."
i sincerely hope that you are right. Personally, i do not have a good feeling about this sorry piece of legislative trash. Something happened to change the minds of nine Republicans and one Democrat who voted to shut down this trash the last time around: They voted to resume talksthe other day. Did the special interest groups get to them? Were they promised some cookies? Or do they just want to give the bill a fair shake.
This trashy pukening bill was dreamed up with the full cooperation with immigrant advocatesand big
business. No witnesses are ever going to be called to testify. Harry Reed and Kennedy will not allow any real amendments.
This is the worst thing that has ever happened to the US. Here we have Bush, Kennedy, McCain and others hypping something called "homeland security" at the same time that they want an illegal to be able to take his utility bill to the INS and get a green card under the name of Alberto Gonzales.Never mine that he is a wanted Islamic terrorist under the name Osama bin Laden. One good thing will come of this, it will finish off the presidentialhopes of InsaneMcCain.
I'm listening to an interview with a Washington correspondent (Jamie Dupree) right now. He's saying that this bill will probably be dead by noon today. They need 60 votes and A LOT of senators are having second thoughts on their votes because their constituents have been going nuts since they voted for the bill on Tuesday.
Let"™s keep our fingers crossed. This bill is the biggest piece of #*%&# and it just has to die!!! I honestly feel like today will be the end of it all. The people have spoken and if a lot of these people want to get elected again they better listen or they're toast... [:-]

Sure hope that it is stopped today. Some of those senators willlose their buttsin 2008fall as a result of their backing this trash.
Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander isn't my favorite politician, but I think he's got a pretty good grasp on what's best for this immigration reform. He's offered amendments that would require the borders to be secure before any other action be taken on immigration reform and that all immigrants here illegally be required to return to their homeland and re-enter through the appropriate channels. He's also offering amendments to provide $500 vouchers to prospective citizens here legally to learn English, U.S. History and civics, allow those who become fluent in English to apply for citizenship one year early, and give a tax deduction to businesses that offer English language programs to their employees.
Regardless of what happens today, I still don't think we've seen the end of this proposed immigration reform. It'll be back.

I certainly hope so. But I am hearing that it is to close to call. I have called, wrote, and e-mailed both my Senators almost daily for the past month or so. Sen. Dole is very opposed to it but Sen. Burr is still on the fence. He is up for re-election next year and I promised him that if he vote to pass this Bill, I would do my damnedest to make sure he was a one-term Senator.

Now, this fight isn't over. I'm going to keep drilling my senators to enforce the laws that are already in place. SEAL THE BORDER!!!!! Then we can deal with the people that are already here. If you have a pipe that is leaking water you cut off the flow before you fix the problem. It's really that simple!

YIP,YIP,YIP!!!! The witch is dead!!! Many thanksto those Republicans, Democrats and one Independent who had the guts to defy their political gods. The morale at the McCain, Kennedy and Bush officesare lower than whale crap right now. McCain is finished.
Can you believe this crap.
"Bush, making a last-ditch bid to salvage the bill, called senators early Thursday morning to urge their support. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez approached senators as they entered and left the chamber shortly before the vote."
