Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default No Pay Raise For Saudi Religious Police

It is Called The Commission For the Suppression of Vice and Promotion of Vitrue. These are the religious police. The"centers" areIslamic re-indoctrination centers. This is where the suicidal Saudi crazies come from. The "officers" are religious policemen."BTW: The US allowed the re-establishment of the Afghan religious police.

"RIYADH, 19 June 2007 "” The Shoura Council, Saudi Arabia"™s appointed consultative council, voted yesterday on a number of measures related to the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice."

"The Council struck down a proposal to build more centers and to raise commission members"™ wages by 20 percent. The Council approved a proposal to provide field operatives of the commission with radio communication equipment and to give them priority in government training programs."

"Amid a healthy debate, 93 of the Council"™s 150 members voted against endorsing a proposal to build more Virtue Commission centers in the Kingdom, currently numbered at 476, in order to reach outlying communities. Only 18 members voted to support the plan. For a measure to pass, 76 votes are needed. While the Council"™s decision cannot override royal decrees, its decisions play a significant consultative role that can influence policy decisions."

"The Shoura also rejected a proposal to raise wages of field officers of the commission. The commission is estimated to employ a total of about 10,000 Saudis, though not all of them work in the field as officers. Sixty-five members of the Council voted for the wage increase while 50 voted against it. This is second year that the Shoura has rejected the wage increase proposal submitted by the Islamic Affairs, Judicial, and Human Rights Committee."

We ran into a few over there. They gave the "guardians" of our women soldiers written warnings if their sleeves were rolled up. (Their male soldier escorts.) Women were not allowed to be out by themselves.

Was working in Saudi as range advisor at the timeKuwait was invaded and afterward. The very first encounter betweenan Islamic religious cop in Saudi and a US military female took placewhen a female Marine knocked one out cold for laying his grubby hands on her. Had a Saudi captain get in my face and demand:"Why did your country send these damn women over here? My response: "To protect your holy places from Saddam Hussein."
