Default So Much For More Refineries

Oil industry may cut back refinery plans

***

At this rate, it will be biofuels or bankruptcy. I'm thinking the latter...

Why is this surprising? The article is nothing more than rhetoric by the oil corporations to justify what they are doing.... In a supply-demand economy iffen a coporation can keep the price high by restricting supply to make mega$$$ then they will.

LOL, they're cutting plans for new refineries because of a call from Congress for more biofuels? I'll buy that . . . well, maybe not.

Why is the White House and Congress calling for a decrease in gasoline useage in the first place? Because the oil companies have been screwing us by decreasing refining capacity over the past two decades and prices are nearing the point where the average American consumer can no longer keep up.

This gasoline crisis is nothing new. If oil companies had been serious about new refineries, plans would've been put into motion before now.

I would opine that in a "perfect" world without any sort of NIMY attitudes or green grumping about oil refineries being built that the oil magnates would still not build just to keep the $$$ on gas high. Its in the nature of the corporate beast to maximise profits for the shareholders...

I'll grant that the fuel taxes put on by the FEd and the state along with $55+/barrel doesnt help but still... look at what the profit levels were for the lions share of all the major international oil companies in the past quarter. Add in the lack of maintenance along the oil pipelines and it makes one wonder sometimes...

What a joke. Washington screws everything up. There's nothing wrong with gas but we have to shift. I sit back and laugh. I wonder how high the price of gas has to get before the public get's fed up with the goverment BS. Until that point, I will continue to drive because I love to drive and Gas isn't a rare resource just and over regulated one.

We, The Government have to build refineries and refine all fuel for militery and government use. They have the land, the oil and the bucks to build them. Take that chunk away from the oil companies.

We don't buy from you any more and we live off we got and you do the same?We can do this as a country and bring them to their knees. We pay china off all at once with the foods they get from here. And then shut them down. We have a contract of how many billions with them? Send them all their debt and end this BS with our country on the banking with them. Get rid of the lobsters from israel. lobbyist or the high money rollers who influence us. Higher couple mercenaries to take care of the trouble makers who push the agebda. 1 or 2 mil will have them vanquished from our country. Lower contractors will do it faster and cheaper. America is not yours. America is for america, Thunder is from th lightining. Thunder is the noise that is heard after the flash. Our land nor waters are for sale...
Anyone want a hired JOB????

Because they can't even come close to the amount of energy we consume each and every day. They are a joke and only a feel good program. How about Gasoline? We have plenty of oil in our own country. Why not take off the reins and let us drill for our own oil?

What's not being done here????? We have head start, free education K-12, free education to teach them skills after they failed to work hard in the K-12 schools, a ton of grants andschoolarships, plenty of ways for the goverment to pay for college. If someone doesn't go out and work for this free stuff, who's fault is it?

These aren't words of growth at all. These are words of shrinkage. World trade is good and has always been good going back thousands of years. Look at ***an. They have zero natural resources but are a very wealthy nation because of trade. I predict, you haven't seen nothing yet. We are at the infantile stage right now of increadable things. The internet is so new it will blow the doors off of the world of trade and inovation. I suggest you study a way to climb on board right now.

I think it was Jimmy Carter that said not more assasinations. I could be wrong though. Why higher mercinariars? Our special forces are well equiped for the task. Why not let them do the work?

Welcome back to America.

Biggest problem is that those whineypoliticans fromthe eastern Demokratic Republiks do not want refineries on their coast. They always oppose off-shore drilling off their coast.

And when that runs out what happens? Were using more energy every year and theres not a unending supply of fossil fuels anywhere. Why wouldnt it be better to start looking into viable alternatives now rather then waiting untill a real crisis is at hand?If we start cutting back now on consumption it only puts off the inevitable and buys us a little more time to research other means. The feel good approach would be sinking more wells and pretending nothings gonna ever have to change, or leaving it for other generations to worry about.
