"See you at the bill signing!"
Those are the words of President Bush; his comment on the amnesty bill many of us thought might be dead at the end of last week. You didn't expect Bush to go down without a fight did you?
President Bush wants to re-introduce the amnesty bill to the Senate. Not surprising. This is arguably his last hope of building a legacy. And it's pathetic to think that this may be driving his staunch support of amnesty "“ making his administration look good in the eyes of history. Instead, he should be working on securing the borders.
Less than a day after the bill was pulled from the floor,
Bush asked for Congress to "act quickly to bring this bill back to the Senate for a vote." And it will happen, eventually. Maybe as soon as July. And then we go at it again.
The problems will still be the same. Amnesty will still be the main component to the bill. Border security will be a vague promise at best, and non-existent at worst. In the end, illegal aliens are still criminals and in the end their crimes will be all but forgiven.
No matter how Washington tries to coat it, the dead bill and any version that re-surfaces in the future will still grant amnesty to millions of criminals.
Don't stop calling your representatives! Don't stop letting your voice be heard! Most of these people are so out of touch with the people that put them in office and we can't cut them any slack... [:@]
