the time is ripe for a 3rd party candidate
The other thread on HIllary got me thinking that Perot tapped something back when, and though he didn't finish what he'd started, he did prove that a third party candidate can make huge waves in this country's political scheme.
The time is right now for a 3rd party candidate to step forward and sieze a large ammount of votes from the Republicans, as well as recruit new voters and refresh the ones that have stopped voting altogether because of the dominating two party system we live in.
Who will that 3rd party candidate be ? I don't know but I will tell you that in the next election I will not vote Republican nor will I vote Democrat, a third party will get my vote
Red Lion, I think that The Body could be elected president in a 3rd party bid. i liked the partwhere he gave out press passes that had the title of "Official Jackel."
A viable third party candidate would likely have to be someone you've never heard of until th election (like Perot - sure, he had a moderate amount of noteriety/fame prior to the election, but most people had no idea who he was). Of the independent politicians, Ventura and former Gov. King of Maine are the highest elected independents of recent memory(elected as independents) and I don't really see either of them winning a presidential election.
In all likelyhood a viable 3rd party candidate would be another rich person (like Perot) with enough money to get himself recognized enough to be heard. Or it would be a Hollywood actor. I'm not certain how I would feel about the former and I know I don't want the latter.

This will probably go a lot quicker if you just recognize that you are wrong and I am right.
The only thing a third party does is ruin the chances for the person closest tothem in views.
If a third party contender is very conservative the only good they'll do is garuntee a democrat wins. Its going to be another close election and the republicans need all the votes they can get.
Which is why we need to rally behind our canidates. Regardless of some differences (lesser of evils..)

I have little faith that any third party candidate will be elected to the presidency in the next future, perhaps ever. Too many people, too many opinions, too many armchair pundits. As politically divided and raring to fight as we are, we'll be lucky to get the best of the mainstream candidates.
