Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in January to clearly identify "earmarks" "” lawmakers' requests for specific projects and contracts for their states "” in documents that accompany spending bills.
Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them.
Huh...didn't see that coming. Hope everyone's saved up some of the money they've gotten back from the IRS. You'll need it next year.
Maybe that's another reason why congress' approval rating is on the downward spiral??? 2008 may be very interesting on the congressional side of elections, especially as many of the conservative "values voters" who sat @ home in 2006 come back to the polls.
