Default Osama's Plan for Iraq

Heard a blurb on the radio a while ago. Haven't had time to chase it down on the 'net. Seems that classified documents are being released that show Bin Ladin was planning to use Iraq for a terrorist staging ground.

Wow.......the gov't knew something that we didn't, and took appropriate action. Not that I expect the "hate Bush" crowd to care, but it furtheremphasizes the fact that we need to win there, for the good and safety of the U.S.

Stuff like that doesn't surprise me. Hatred of Bush is overriding common sense for those who won't recognize that secular and fundamentalist muslims will occasionally put their differences aside for the sake of killing non-muslims.

You mean this. After we invaded.

WASHINGTON - President Bush, trying to defend his war strategy, declassified intelligence Tuesday asserting that Osama bin Laden ordered a top lieutenant in early 2005 to form a terrorist cell that would conduct attacks outside Iraq - and that the United States should be the top target.

The information mirrored a classified bulletin from the Homeland Security Department in March 2005, reporting that bin Laden had enlisted Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, his senior operative in Iraq, to plan potential strikes in the U.S. The warning was described at the time as credible but not specific and did not prompt the administration to raise its national terror alert level.

The declassification of the intelligence came a day before Bush was scheduled to speak about terrorism at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

If we are fighting them there how could they plan on attacking us here?

Might explain the continued effort there to be sure the enemy is wiped out and a friendly gov't established. What does it matter that we found out after the initial invasion? It's not given as the reason we went to war.

The following link describes an AlQueda terrorist cell in Saudi that was captured. They were planning an attack on a prison. The Saudis fight pitched battles with AlQueda nearly every day. Please note that they confessed. After a fair Sharia trial they will soon become two piece terrorists.

"JEDDAH, 23 May 2007 "” Eight Al-Qaeda militants including five Saudis, two Chadians and an Egyptian "” who were part of the Khalediya Apartment Terror Cell in Makkah "” have confessed that they were plotting to storm Jeddah"™s Ruwais Prison to free fellow Al-Qaeda members." ......

"Last week, Saudi TV aired a similar program when two arrested terror suspects confessed that the Al-Qaeda network had plans to carry out massive terrorist operations on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, on the scale of the 9/11 attacks.".....

"Saud Al-Musaibeeh, security adviser to the interior minister, blamed negligent families for allowing their children to be recruited by Al-Qaeda. He commended the efforts of Islamic scholars to convince some of the arrested militants by counseling them that they are grossly mistaken in following terrorist ideologies.".....

"Meanwhile, a high-level source said investigations of terror suspects, who were part of the Khalediya cell, have been completed and that they would shortly be transferred to court to face trial. The source said the suspects had admitted to the crimes they had committed." .....

"According to confessions made by the eight militants, Al-Qaeda recruited young Saudis, some as young as 16, to train them to carry out terrorist attacks both in the Kingdom and abroad. Ahmed Nasser Al-Dakheel was one of the most wanted terrorists in the Kingdom and was leader of a cell. He died during a gunbattle with security forces in July 2003."

Not at all Charlie--it's just my speculation, but it makes sense to me that is a good reason to stay after getting rid of Saddamand get a friendly gov't established. If we don't, Bin Ladin will, and we'll be right back to square one.

In case some of you guys have forgotten, bin Laden has been continually and methodically planning to attack the U.S. for over two decades. Invading Iraq didn't increase his desire to kill us at home. To the contrary, it opened a front further away from home in order to keep him under heavier pressure.

We can't fight a defensive war, especiallyagainst these nuts. Keep our guys over there where we can find higher concentrations of Islamic whackjobs so we can tie them up so they don't have as much time towork on carrying outmore bombings here in America. Once was too much as it is.
