Well Libs heres your rebuttal to the statement, "only the slim minority of muslims believe in violence" "Islam is the religion of peace". BULLS***. Well heres a poll of young muslims, how bout 25 PERCENT. Islam is the religion of violence.
What a bunch of crock 5% error. Hello politicians make a career out of lying. What makes people think that Muslims will tell the truth ecspecially when they know they are being watched? I would have thought some of these people would have learned this by now.
It's not the religion; it's the followers. Muslims aren't clones--they're individuals. So long as man is thepurveyor of religion (God hasn't made an appearance since the OT, right?), his relative negative traits (competitive violence) will remain and fester to some degree. Claiming that Islam alone creates murderers is a very simplistic andignorant assertion to make.
Politics bends religion more than religion bends politics in the modern era. In fact, it has for some time. These nuts aren't killing for God--they're killing for land, resources, money, influence, and control...all very human desires. Extremist Islam is just the carrier for the political message.
When you speak to Muslims about terrorism, they don't speak in terms of please God or living according to bin Laden's interpretation of the Koran. They talk about pushing out invaders, empires, and criminals. They were used torunning things their way, but once the Ottoman Empire collapse in WWI, they were subjected to all kinds of outside interests who moved into their areas.
I don't support murder in any form, let alone suicide bombings. But it's important to see things from the enemy's side, and not rely on stereotypes and generalized assumptions. These nuts don't complain about Christianity's influence over Islam--they speak of the West's influence over the Middle East.
I don't doubt the numbers, but what groups of Muslims were polled and what was the turn out from each group? Second, I bet you would get similiar, maybe a little lower if you polled all Americans together as well.

Exactly right. About a year ago (I apologize, i have lost the link in the mists of time) a fairly definitive study was done of all suicide bombinggs world wide. The vast majoritywere motivated by a political, rather than religious, agenda.
