Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I think vaccines, particularly those alledged to prevent diseases that are not communicable in the school setting, should not be mandated by the government. Parents are the guardians of their children, and they alone should decide what treatments to seek from their doctor for their children.

HPV has always been around. It's a consequence of screwing around too much. Nature works its ways for a reason. Now that it's an issue in the news, let the people decide for themselves. Who knows, some girls might think they won't get STDsand go fling themselves around even more than before the vaccine. Legislation of sexuality has very disturbing side effects. We need to keep government out of the bedroom and let parents raise their kids without undue interference.

I would like to see it left up to the parents. But too many parents are not going to be responsible enough or care enough aboutthe eventual health of their daughter(s)to get them vaccinated.

These fundies give religion a bad name.

I agree with cma, I am all for it. As for the religious zealots, well, they never seem to support anything that would benefit society in a positive way.

There are still a slewof STD's not covered by vaccines, I'd say the chances of this vaccination promoting promiscuity are nill.
People can be friggin' stupid. Urban legends have a way of continuing despite attempts to clear them up. If people were smart enough to control their lust or at the bare minimum have safe sex, we wouldn't need this vaccine in the first place.

What happens if the vaccine has short- or long-term side effects? Such a stringent public health policy is very dangerous. The only way to keep kids from having sex and risking infection of HPV and other STDs is to parent them. States are trying to play father knows best, and it's arisky experiment in social medicine and a sharp insult to personal liberty. Very few things should be mandated by the government. This is one of them.

OK is in the middle of the Bible belt. It also has one of the highest teen-age out of wedlock birth rates in the USA.Everyone in OK claims to be chuck full of something called "family values." i know a girl who first had sex on her wedding night, unfortunately she married a scumbag who infected her with HPV.

Yeah, you kind of have to know who you're getting in bed with beforehand. Used to be that marriage licenses were often issued only after an STD screen was administered. It's even easier and cheaper to do today. Sex is serious business, and if people don't consider it as a life & death issue, they're going to end up worse off for it.

The bottom line is thatthis vaccine order not only violates a child's and parents' privacy, but alsodoesn't promote safer sex in itself. Waste of time, liberty, and tax money.

I don't care for the way they tried to force it on everyone, nor the scumbag pharm company that also made the equally fast tracked Vioxx that killed people. Find out how safe it is before giving the public the option of using it, then I won't have a problem with it. Until then I can't support it.
