Every illegal caught here that is age eligible be given the choice of instant deportation or a hitch in the American military where they can learn to defend this country that want to invade. Start out with a hitch in Iraq.

I would bet if you paid them like our solider get paid you woudl have a good number saying ok. I also think that Iraq would then have an illegal mexican problem as I think most would run when getting there. Seriously, not a real possibility.

RE: How about This?
I don't want them here period. Put them in prison and they will get better treatment than they get in Mexico so that isn't punishment. Warm dry place to live, free cloths and 3 squares a day..... They need to be deported and then jailed in Mexico. Don't forget they exited Mexico illegally and should therefore be considered criminals there too. Can you imagine what they would do as members of our military. The only reason why all this fuss is being made on both sides of the isle to grant amnesty is political posturing. All those politicians know that the Hispanic voter is about to be or presently is"¦. a majority. They all know they need to cater t0o them to win.

Maybe you want to serve with them, i do not. What is wrong with simply draftingthose red-blooded American male citizens? Oh, i forgot, they do not want to serve, only cheerlead.

1. What constitutes a "red-blooded" American? Given that biologically everyone's blood is red at some point in their cardiovascular circuit, I am assuming that you are perpetuating the stereotype that a red-blooded American is someone who fits into some pre-conceived mold of yours, which likely precludes people who, for one reason or another, disagree with violent means, disagree with interventionist policies, or just plain disagree with conscription. For example, I know several people who can make a very well-thought out argument that a) our first defense priority should be missile defense, b) that our military should serve as a force to defend the homeland, and c) that we should fight terrorism in our own country, by stepping up the border wars and using more sophisticated domestic techniques. While I don't agree with this necessarily, your narrow version of a red-blooded American impliedly excludes such people, or would include them unwillingly, which is admittedly a policy nightmare and arguably unconstitutional.
2. Why not women?
3. Why a draft when every single military commander thinks that a draft is a horrible idea?
4. What is wrong with "cheerleading" the troops? We "cheerlead" our favorite sports teams, and nobody demeans sports fans for not trying to make it to the NFL. We cheerlead politicians even though we may not want to enter politics. We cheerlead businesses that we own stock in even though we don't want to work for them. Basically you are implying that you are only for the troops if you are one of the troops, which is not only completely contradictory and false, but also would constitute a sad state of affairs.
The average woman does not come close to having the physical capabilities of of the average man. With that said, having said physical capabilities is ESSENTIAL in order to be a competent soldier, not only for combat arms, such as infantry but for other jobs in support that they are currently allowed in. I have only served with two women, in transportation, that were as competent as a man. I am not being sexist, as I base my statements on 16 years of experience. I prefer having no women to rely on when the crap hits the fan. I have no problem with women being pilots, combat pilots, etc...
Those higher up in the military that do not want drafts do not want them, as they know that it would bring in a lot of scumbag, lazy, worthless bastards not wanting to serve and wasting time.

Fewer than one percent of Americans are taking on the role of defending this country. This is totally wrong. WWII was won by draftees. Over 10 million of the 15.5 million troops who served in WWII were draftees. i knew many of them personally and never met one who was a "scumbag ora lazy misfit." The US military did not draftmisfits during WWII.
i served with lots of draftees. All of those who i knew were good soldiers who just wanted to serve their military obligation and get on with their lives. The misfits only came after the war in RVN was well under way. Lazy misfits were not limited to draftees, there were lots of volunteers who fell into this category. There was a general breakdown in military morale and discipline due to several factors, including an unfair draft that allowed deferments for the sons of the fat cats and the politically connected.
Politicians came up with the all volunteer Army because theyrefused tobite the bullet and institute a fair military draft with no exemptions for any one. During the Carter administration one third of all US Army troops failed to complete their first year in uniform.
I listened as that idiotic Rumsfeld railed against draftees and denigrated the military service of those who won the last large warthat the US ever won-WWII. It literally made me puke to listen to the SOB.
i stand bymy statement. Somehow i just cannot understand the mentality of able bodied men who are willing to send females into harms way in their place.
I have to agree with Redlion on the issue of women in the military. I was in a light infantry division as a member of a forward support battallion. My MOS was a heavy wheel mechanic. Most of the women I served with were not as capable as men. Many didn't even serve in their primary MOS. Most women are weaker than most men physically. Most women were more of a distraction than anything. Most men were not happy with women getting equal treatment (pay, promotion)while having lower standards.
Women and men were not treated equally. There were a few that could be considered equals and they were treated accordingly by their fellow soldiers. Everybody knew who the slackers were, regardless of sex. We could "deal"with the male soldiers and we just had to "tolerate" the female ones.
What is wrong with simply draftingthose red-blooded American male citizens?
I am not against the draft in it's entirely but, I question why do we need to when our government has shutdown so many bases and cut back so many personel to cut the millitary budget! They claim that the personel is not needed. Now with everything going on, we want a draft? Bases were closed, ship yards were closed because we do not need them, now look at the mess we are in. So now tell me why, technology was the way to go and not man power. Does anyone remember that machines can do all for all ? That was the governments drumbeat when all those bases and everything was closed. So, now it is time to take a new road? Or is time to go back in time?, and use the old fashion thing called lead.

I have to agree with statement, however there are some women who would want to go and probaly hold the ground that some good men would have problems with. For those if they really want to let them.
