Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default THE CNN EXPERTS HAVE FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT

So now that CNN "experts" say that pulling out of Iraq is a bad idea. I wonder what their first clue was.

Sorry about the sarcasm, but why does it take so long for some people to realize the obvious? For years the Commander in Chief of our armed forces has been telling us that pulling out of Iraq would invite disaster; bloodshed on an unimaginable scale. Now it takes a panel of CNN "experts" repeating what George Bush has been saying all along to make it a fact.
Here's a paragraph from the story:

"Sectarian violence could erupt on a scale never seen before in Iraq if coalition troops leave before Iraq's security forces are ready. Supporters of al Qaeda could develop an international hub of terror from which to threaten the West. And the likely civil war could draw countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran into a broader conflict."
Now what part of that scenario sounds good to you Democrats? Remember this is the course of action preferred by your party! Your heroes, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Murtha and the rest of the Defeatocrat caucus have been working for just this scenario! What is it about sectarian violence on a massive scale, an Al Qaeda base for terror in oil-rich Iraq and a broader Middle East conflict that makes them so happy?

It's clear: Iraqis still need our help to build the country they have been denied for so long. Pulling out now would undermine the legacy of every soldier and civilian life lost in Iraq. Defeatocrats are basically saying that those who died serving in Iraq did it for nothing, there will be no resolution worth dedicating to their sacrifice. Nice, real nice. Let's just spit in the eye of every person serving in Iraq. Liberals love this stuff. Me? Not so much.

We can all admit that this could have been handled better, but what's done is done. Can we put aside the partisanBS and just come together to get the job done over there? Pulling out is the path to disaster. Accomplishing our stated goals can lead to huge dividends for peace.

CNN is just looking to renew an old story in order to draw attention and increase profits.

CNN has realized that they stand a good chance of getting a Dem in the White House next election, and if the Dems succeed in getting us out of Iraq first, their President will have to deal with the fall out of a chaotic Iraq situation.

However, if the Communits News Network can get the Dems to shift their policy, then when a Dem is in charge, he (or she) can become the savior of Iraq with all the amazing policies they will institute.

Neither Bush nor his supporters think "we should stay forever". That's a serious over-generalization. I believe everyone, including Bush, wants the troops home upon successful completion of the mission. The problem with establishing a 2 year deadline for withdrawal is that it gives hope to the terrorists/religious fanatics/civil disobedients or whatever you want to call them, that, if they can just hold on for 2 years, we'll be gone and then they'll get to take over or do whatever else they want.

true dat. but, as Iff says, without benchmarking, Iraq has no incentive to do some of the heavy lifting themselves. how do you balance the two?

I think the "benchmarking" needs to be done face to face with the Iraqi leadership, diplomatically, and that there needs to be a degree of flexibility in recognition of the volatility of the situation over there. It should not be done through adrop-dead date for withdrawalestablished in a funding/de-funding bill by Congress.

With the stunning success we have had with training and equipping these fine wards of the desert how could anyone imagine something as short as two years to close the deal?

Hell four years and 500 billion and some of them have actually stopped cutting the neighbors kids heads off.
Another trillion or two and they might even quite clubbing their wives for not dressing in woolen blankets from head to two.
The suicide bomber thing is just a passing fad once they get the finer points of germ contamination down they will be capable of killing many more of each other without damaging their holy mosque's.
The nukes that we fear so are still light years away when you put into prospective that most of these people know more about AK 47's than they do algebra!!

What a success story!!!!!!!!!
