RE: Anyone Know What The Root Word Of "Survivalism" Is?
"Buschow wasn't told that, and he wasn't offered any. The guides did not want him to fail the $3,175 course. They wanted him to dig deep, push himself beyond his known limits, and make it to the cave on his own."
Spent seven years of my life in world class deserts. Worked six and seven days a week, often 14 hours a day in the desert. Anyone who would pay $3,175 for a "desert survival course" is nuts. Sounds like he failed the course. Bet that the instructors never once checked the guys pulse or temperature. "Surviving" in the desert does not include going without water for long periods of time while traveling in the daytime.Wonder who the nutcase guides are?
Reminds me of the two Vinnell Corp. employees whoseSuburban vapor locked in the Arabian Desert. They hadwater in the truck. For some idiotic reason they tried to hike out. It gets worse than that: They hiked to a Bedouin camp and were told to wait until the truck came back and they, the Bedouins, would take them to camp.Nope, the the two guyshiked off again and died. Both were retired Special Forces Senior NCOs who knew better.
