Ive got the answer to our imigration problem
Get rid of welfare. Think about it for a moment. What do we hear when the notion of cracking down on illegals comes up? Answer; They will do the jobs Americans wont. Do the jobs Americans wont!!!!! Now, when did Americans get so good as to not have to do labor jobs? Mexico doenst have walfare (or any I know of), so they are coming here to do what ever job they can, or starve. When did Americans get so high and mighty, that it is more nobel to suck off the Governments sugar tit instead of work for a pay check. Cut off welfare, and I bet these people will be less proud. When did we get to the point of thinking, just because you are an American, you are entitled to a home, food, computer, and satalite T.V..
I know there is more to it, like the corupt buisnesses who pay these people slave wages to save a buck. So we will need to crack down on that first.
I guess I get sick and tired of hearing, "They will do the jobs we wont". Well im sick of my tax dollars going to feed and house those who are too good to work for themself. Id like to save money. Once the burden of all the ingrates was removed from the system, then outside organizations would have a much easier job in meeting the needs of the truly needy.

I assume you mean ceratin welfare programs and not all welfare, otherwise you would eliminate VA benefits for vets, social security, and medicare for example, as they are welfare programs. Plus I do not think it would work anyways, as many come for the opportunity to work in this country and social freedoms, and not always just for welfare benefits.

Red,
Of course. Food stamps, Welfare checks, etc.. With the extra cash we could pay someone to investigate disability claims ,I know of, and im sure some of you know of a few people getting disability thatare not disabled. As well as false VA, medicare, and social security claims. This way we could insure the deservingdo not get theshafted or short handedby a bleed dry system.

I agree that welfare needs to be fixed, but most of welfare "welfare" is actually for the children of these people who are lazy, so as not to punish them for their parent's mistakes. You're not going to not feed a kid because their lazy pothead mom doesn't want to work or can't keep a job. If they really want to fix immigration they need to issue anyone who is here legally cards to work, and then give local police the power to walk up to Mr. Big Money's house when they see illegals working or mowing the yard and fine the crap out of them along with the businesses that hire them. If you really want to get people's attention start fining people, not just this or that business.
Illegals don't work jobs that American's won't work, they work jobs that Americans won't work for slave wages.

I certainly agree that welfare needs reform. Lots of the "give-away" programs need stopped. But my question is this: What are we going to do with the people who are denied their checks? We tried to make them work for them before, but our all-knowing judicial system said no. Our own "enlightened" people in places that could indeed effect change were abhorrent to do it. So now we shut off the money. Now what?

You made a good point, ive pointed this out long ago. Go after the employers. Cut off the head, and the body will die.
As for the kids? Do you think the welfare money is going to feed a kid, as apposed to a habit? Notice I did not say, "get rid of the free lunch/breakfast program." This is where these kids are getting feed. But even with that said, Ive noticed these kids are not starving. The obesity rate is just as high among poor kids as it is with rich kids. I thought about the kids when I posted. I would rather pay an officer to investiage welfare cases than to throw tax dollars at an addict. Let them earn their habit instead of you and I paying to help support it. I deal with CPS and kids who are very poor. I run the science dept. of a Title 1 school, so most of our population is poor. Funny thing, these poor kids all have cellphones, game boys, Ipods, etc. etc.. I know their socioeconomical records, and they are doing surprisingly well for kids of a singlemother who doesnt work. Something fishy is going on.
