NEW YORK "” Still recovering from the Don Imus scandal, CBS Radio suspended two local shock jocks after they twice broadcast a racially charged prank call to employees at a Chinese restaurant.
The hosts of the daily morning show, WFNY-FM's "The Dog House With JV and Elvis," have been suspended indefinitely without pay, CBS Radio spokeswoman Karen Mateo told The New York Times in an e-mail Monday. One of the hosts, Jeff Vandergrift, apologized on Monday's show, she said.
Which part of the phrase "shock jock" don't the masters at CBS understand? You can't have your cash and PC too...

RE: Now the Imus debacle turns CBS into the thought police
Since when has this country gotten to the sad state that someone would actully be paid to throw out racial jokes and slurs. And there's people on here worried about jobs. Here's a thought, instead of paying a guy to act dispicable how about take his job away and give it to someone who actually works for a living.

When Imus goes to another network or Serious/ XM, CBS will be begging for him to come back. Right now they think they are doing the right thing but we all know that money talks in big business. When their ratings drop because all their PC programming is so boring then we will see just how bad they really wanted him gone. CBS is a big crock of dog poo if you ask me. They haven't been any good since Walter retired and Katie isn't cutting it. They had a chance to get it back with Bob Schieffer but weren't smart enough to see it.

Have you heard the shock jocs???? It was rather mild. I live in small town, conservative Texas, and I hear worse on the radion than what those two did.
Its P.C. gone crazy. America has turned to a country that wants to be offended. Welcome to the United states of the offended.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Political Correctness. Maybe if people spent half the time actually raising their kids to be decent people, instead of complaining about some poor schmuck on the radio dropping an F-bomb or making fun of white people, we'd all be much, much further ahead.
First Zumbo, then Imus, now these two. Whatever happened to people doing/saying whatever they want without10,000 jealous crybabies crying a riverto have them fired from their dayjob?
If I ruled the world, the first thing to go would be the F.C.C.
RE: Now the Imus debacle turns CBS into the thought police
In Imus's case, it's not government regulation. Money talks. Advertisers started pulling their money, so the network followed the dollars and yanked Imus. It's called free market capitalism. Do you want to FORCE companies to advertise on specific TV stations/shows?
I have to agree with some on here about the larger issue of shock jocks. Why are you surprised that a shock jock would offend people? Isn't that what they're paid to do? Me?I refuse to listen to them. I don't want to encourage them. Around here, it's Elliot (I call him idiot) in the Morning. Junior high school level humor, poo jokes, belittling listeners and celebrities, etc. Not my cup of coffee. But I have no problem with it being on the air if that's what people want. And I have no problem with a station or network pulling it if they decide that it's not what people want.
Long live the market!
