I think it's because a bunch of people got their undies in a bunch and when they were not happy with the result they cried about it and screamed at the gov. instead of the enemy, then it was all about defending the war instead of defending the troops who felt strong enough about it to go over there. I say leave the gov. alone long enough to come up with a decent strategy and tell your soldiers how much you appresiate them. I have not forgotten the soldiers. My granfathers, my dad, uncles on both sides, brother ect. all served this country so that we can have freedom. We should respect them enough to want that for others as well.
I hope it is because this time, it goes without saying. That doesn't diminish the appreciation for the troops one iota, just pointing out that (hopefully) only idiots like Kerry and some on the far left hate our troops.

RE: What I do Not See On This Board
This has been hashed out many times and you must not be reading if you say you haven't seen anyone support the troops. True many of the posts are voicing opinions either for or against the war but I don't recall any posts that were not supporting the troops. All of the regulars here are patriotic towards America. Since this is a political forum the discussions are about politics and at present we have a 2 party system with allegiances on both sides. People who don't care for Bush aren't against the troops just the present administration. If you are inferring that not supporting Bush you are disrespecting and not supporting the troops you have it wrong.[:-]

That was Vietnam for sure, where a LOT of people who were against the war were against the troops. Either now that is not the case, or they are more silent about it.

Far from it. The Bush Bunch do not give me any funny fuzzy feeling for botching this war.

RE: What I do Not See On This Board
Different times and a different war to be sure. I grew up during that conflict and can remember the public sentiment against the soldiers like it was yesterday. The late 60's and early 70's were a time when protests were really coming into its own and the counter culture was growing. People were becoming aware that the government was corrupt and we were in the era of peace drugs and rock and roll. Question authority was the word of the day and the youth of that era did a lot of questioning. I was in the military starting in the late 60's but still felt that I could question things I saw which were wrong since I was only 19. It wasn't the soldier"™s fault that we were in the war but blame was placed on them none the less because they were viewed as part of the establishment. Peace mattered to almost all of the young people at that time and money, power and jobs were not important. Like I said times have changed.

I guess we're seeing different things here. Even the people who do not support this war (on this board) still support the troops. Aside from a few trolls who end up getting permabanned for a variety of reasons, every regular member who posts in the political section supports the troops.

Can you clear up whos freedom they are fighting for? Can you tell us whos freedoms been stomped on for this war? Again, Whos freedom are we fighting for?
