Well, it's started...
Watched the evening news tonight. Of course, the VT massacre was top story. Brian Williams of NBC News was interviewing Pres. George and First Lady Laura Bush. The Pres. made a brief statement as to the tragedy, and how they both felt saddened about it and their deep sympathies went out to the families of those involved.
Brian Williams then said "What are we going to do about these GUNS???"President Bush gave no reply. He simply reiterated their grief and dismay and ended the interview.
I was so pi**ed off, my wife heard me hollering upstairs. Lord, how I detest those lying, manipulative media bastards!!!
falcon, I think you're right. And I also think that would be a huge mistake for the Democrats. The last time gun control was a huge issue during the elections were the '00 and '02 elections and we all know what happened in those respective elections.

I got a bad feeling about this, if they can keep this publicized and in the public eye with the right twist it wouldnt take much to sway public opinion.Up till now most of the public didnt care one way or the other about gun control other than the hard core gun owners and anti gun lobbyists. Also world sentiment on the matter could be used and everywhere I look this week the "evil American gun culture" is the hot topic of discussion.
On the other hand with most peoples attention spans this could all be swept under the rug with a celebraty death or well placed racial slur[&o]

I also have a bad feeling about what could occur. I guess everyone better get out and buy those .50barrets, handguns and AR's before new legislation puts new restrictions forth. [&o]

I did notice a lot of people on Fox news were countering the gun controle notion as to say, "IF others in the school had a gun, the problem would have not gotten to the point it did." Geraldo even said, "If one of the other students were allowed to carry a gun, the playing field would have been leveled. But as it was, there was not a level playing field".

One other thing I noticed on Fox (notice i said Fox, because no other network made such statements) was that they keep using England as an exaple of gun controle and how gun violence has increased over there. Only the bad guys have guns in marry old U.K..
