Default 1 student, 1 teacher, 1 gun

If just one student had had a gun, or 1 teacher had a gun, they could possibly have killed the VT gunmen and saved lives.

As it were, one armed guy went to a totally unarmed campus, there was no one to stop him, it was a killing field.

Instances like this make me support illegal gun ownership. I realize its very likely illegal for students to have guns on VT campus, but had just one person bucked the system and shot this gunman, he or she would be a hero.

In Michigan, if you have a CPL, you are not permitted to carry in a college classroom or dormitory. Of course if you are under 21, you can't carry anywhere, anytime. The legislators should call it the "Let's make all our kids sitting ducks for every nutcase while they're in school rule."

so how did the gunman do it if it wasn't permitted ?

what I am saying is that if just one student had illegally had a gun in his room or could have accessed it that person could have saved dozen's of lives. Anyone can get a handgun, at age 16 or age 19, and you can take one just about anywhere if its legal or not doesn't matter.

had 1 student bucked the system they'd be heroes right now in my eyes

I'm just the opposite, instances like this make me wish that it would be LEGAL for Concealed Carry, thug would've thought twice not knowing who could shoot back!

Your right, I got a knife in my pocket. How close are you to me. My hands are not in my pocket. I see an ink pen on the counter. I have practiced over and over again to stick the eye of a person who is causeing me harm. I have practiced this and got it down to use what is around me to defend myself and YOU as a human as the bible tells me to. I shall protect you.

I thought the same thing whenI heard this horrible tragedy on the radio but you KNOW it will be spun into why we need more gun controll.

It will definitely be spun to try and get more gun control, however I find it interesting because wasn't it VA who had the debate in the legislature about allowing CC permit holders to carry on University grounds and then they left it up to the Board of Trustees at each college, who I'm sure are kicking themselves in the rear right now about not allowing them.

seemed like a good idea at the time

I think there is a concealed permit law in WV, but that is superceded by federal law on having guns on campus or maybe its a state law exception (campus laws ?) You are correct that the shooter chose a place where no one had a gun to shoot back, typical gunman shooter planning

there is a concealed carry law in WV and I know for a fact that you can't have a weapon on state college property here, but in VA the concealed carry laws seem to be a little more lenient and I just happened to hear about the BOT choice on TV where they said they went and looked it up.

You can carry concealed in Utah on college campus'. So I don't think its a federal law. Im not 100% on the fed law part.
