Makes some sense to me. The PM seems to consider the health of those already in-country, as well as the strength of the public health system, paramount to the plight of the immigrant. I think he's right. You take care of those at home before you try to save the rest of humanity. Of course, what does he get from the left and the pro-immigration groups? The ol' labels of racist and xenophobe...

I think that a lot of countries have strict health requirments. A friend of mine who wanted to go to Mongolia had to get an HIV test just to visit there briefly.

I have no problem with the U.S. doing health screenings for immigrants and rejecting those that pose a significant health risk? But, it would be a logistical nightmare and would have a lot of folks screaming in outrage.
