Default If he wasnt famous?

I see Snoop Dog got probation and community service for possesion/sale of marijuana and owning a gun as a convicted felon.

Quote:
He was arrested at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank Oct. 26 on suspicion of transporting marijuana. Police later found a gun at his home. If convicted at trial he could have faced up to four years in prison.
A little more on the rappers background.

Quote:
Snoop Dogg also faces separate felony charges stemming from the Sept. 27 discovery of a collapsible baton in his computer bag by a security screener at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.
Quote:
Snoop Dogg was convicted in 1990 of cocaine possession and charged with gun possession after a 1993 traffic stop. He pleaded guilty in exchange for three years' probation and a promise to make public-service announcements against violence.
He was acquitted of a murder charge in 1996 after the death of an alleged street-gang member killed by gunfire from the vehicle in which Snoop Dogg was traveling.
Wonder if I had his criminal record and was caught with guns and drugs if I would have gotten the same deal?Another example of existing gun laws not being enforced while new ones are being invented[:'(]

The rich, the famous and theinfamous with money areexempt from the laws that govern the rest of us. Us regular folks do not have shills like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to make excused for our actions.

So how is it then that he got slapped on the wrist for second offense weapons and drug charges? One being possesion of weapon as a convicted felon no less.Another deadly weapon charge pending for possesing the baton. Are the laws really this relaxed concerning guns and drugs for the majority of the population?

Yes, but, if Snoopy went to prison, it would just be another obvious case of whitey trying to hold down a successful black man.

Well, the OJ verdict set the standard by establishing that we are now operating on a level playing field. That is, rich blacks can buy justice now, too.

Another thing to consider is that the court and jail systems in many places are clogged. So, lot's of poor folks are getting by with quick plea bargains and slaps on the wrist despite multiple offenses. And sometimes the police won't even pick up people on bench warrants even when they know where to find them because there is no room in the system for them.

Too? I think it's now easier for rich blacks to buy justice. All they have to do is play the old race card. Look at Martha Stewart. She didn't have that card up her sleeve...

Interestingly, my son, a year or so back, got cited for truancy because he was late getting to class several times. We had to hire a criminal lawyer to help get him off.Potential $500 fine per day he was late (and, if the DA really wanted to play hardball, he could have cited ME as well...) This was for being late. After he had graduated, and after he hadenrolled in College.

Hispanic students, who skipped DAYS of class to participate in protests related to our country's horrific treatment of illegal immigrants (after all... we only give them free food, housing and medical treatment) and white people's theft of their homeland (AZTLAN), and white people's desire to destroy hispanic culture in the U.S. (Do they REALLY want to turn the U.S. into another Mexico??? If so, why did they leave in the first place?) were not cited at all...

Well, keep in mind that the race card has only been an option for the last generation. Before that, being black often meant that one was automatically guilty and might just as well end up hanging from a treee in front of the courthouse. I'm not arguing in defense of Snoop, or anyone else, just stating a fact in terms of current legal processes compared to the pre-civil rights era.

Well, life's not fair as your sons case demonstrates. My (white) neighbor has accumulated multiple DUI's and domestic violence arrests and is still driving and has likely faced less actual trouble than your family has in your situation.
