Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default What about Fred Thompson

I just saw an intervied with possible 08 presidential candidate Fred Thompson (ex congressman and Law and Order TV star). I don't know much about him but he appeared to be sincere and wants to work for the people. Anyone know much about him?

It appears that an increasing number of Republicans are encouraging him to run, but he's said that he will wait a few months and see how his GOP counterparts are faring in the runup to the campaign. Opinion polls currently put him third, behind Guliani and McCain; I think it would be a good idea for him to come forward now and announce his candidacy if he intends to run, instead of waiting around.

He announced a couple of days ago that he has cancer (non-Hodgkins lymphoma). But he said that he isn't showing symptoms and it isn't expected to reduce his life expectancy. So who knows whether that will impact his decision any.

Personally, I would want to hear him state his case for the way forward for our nation, but I believe he is a person I can vote for. He seems to be a true conservative, and one whom supports the principles that I value most (guns, social issues, etc.).

Check this link for his background in the Senate on key issues:

I'd vote for him.

YOu know I just picture him in the oval office looking at ambassadors from other countries like in Days of Thunder and big John, telling them, he better not catch em tradin paint again..

I need to find out his gun voting record. See if he is a hunter, I hear he's not much of a serious Christian, which could be a problem.

But he's very tight with McCain, so I doubt he will run.

I think he'd be a very formidable candidate and a leader who says what he means and means what he says.
He made public today that he recovered (is in remission) from a slow growing form of CA. I'd vote for him. I think he'd be a refreshing change from all the professional politicians who've been running all their lives.

"On Wednesday, Thompson said he has non-Hodgkin"™s lymphoma but it is in remission and the diagnosis shouldn't affect his life expectancy.

Thompson, 64, said he hasn't been sick or had any symptoms of the cancer.

He has said he would consider running for president in 2008, depending on how the rest of the republican field plays out. "

He just struck me as someone who was sincere, ready to serve and didn't act like the only thing in his life was ...THE PARTY. I am hopeful that either he or someone else comes forward to make my choice easy. I haven't seen anyone from either side of the political spectrum that I could vote for today. IMO they go from bad to worse. With 300 million people in this great country the best they can come up with is Hillary or McCain? My mind floats back to "™04 when the Dems came out with their cast of 9 losers.

I like the guy, but just couldn't get behind an actor. We got lucky with Reagan.

Yeah, it's either that or he's already got a big pile of money and he wants to make a difference...
