Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Who said this?

I thought it would be interesting for others to guess what historical figure made the following quote:

"Naturally, the common people don"t want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of their leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

I believe it was Hitler. Or one of his deputies, like Goering.

It was Goering, although it was never officially recorded and attributed to him.

Dang it guys you are not suppose to get the answer correct right away! [&o] We are suppose to get 15-20 responses before the correct answer of Goering is given! [:@] It is an interesting, but I think truthful statement.

It's been quoted numerous times by the anti-Bush and anti-war crowds. It's historical truth is apparent back throughoutClassical Antiquity.
