Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Pious Saudi king signs oil deal with Godless communists. The Saudis have shown their love for the US and signed an oil deal with China.

After a long cross country hunting trip from the east coast last fall I can see we have plenty of open space in the mid west. Time to grow more corn and build some ethanol plants. All the big US auto makers need to focus on alternative fuel technology and get away from the need for foreign oil. I would rather open some of the areas we control in the gulf and Alaska to oil exploration rather than buy another drop from the middle east. If we don't need their stinking oil we don't need to be there at all. If it weren't for our dependence on their oil they would be free to destroy each other like they have done for the past 2000 years.

That's business. Iraq doesn't care who gets the oil as long as they get paid well for it.

You all should read everything again. More than less this is that the Iraqis have to get permission from the US on their own laws they want to pass.

The Oil draft law was seen by both the Bush administration and the International Monetary Fund before it was given to Iraq's parliament.

So it's about their own democracy and not about the oil is it?

What the hell are you talking about? Iraq is a sovereign nation with an independent, democratically elected government. We can't and don't tell them how to legislate. Perhaps if we could, it wouldn't be such a mess over there right now.

And they're contracting with China and other developing countries because their demand is on track to surpass ours within the next decade. Iraq is nailing an emerging market--that's where the money is.

I agree with you, but we will continue to look to buy and use oil inhuge quantities for quite a while yet. Too much $ ridingfor the auto manufacturers and oil companies to let us become more energy self-sufficient and use alternative sources, until they can set-up a monopoly on the alternative sources. Its not a matter of what is the best for America, but what is the best regarding $ for Capitalism.

Like I said, Why do they have to get permission from the US to make their laws. Are they really their own country if they got to get permission from the US for their laws?

They can pump all their wells dry. Way I see it is if you take enough of the under ground support away you might think that the whole country would collaps and make one giant lake to fill with fish.

ethanol is not the answer it takes too much energy to produce to really be a viable fuel source, besides the fact that your car engine has to be designed to run specifically on ethonal I am not talking about the flex vehicles that run on both gasoline and ethanol if it isnt then you get worst gas milage than you would running gasoline then on top of that ethonal cost just as much if not more than gasoline right now.
