Another rant on education. My nads are swollen
Yep, the state of Texas is about to kick its better teacher in the fuzzy bean bag. Our crook of a Governor ran his reelection campaign on the notion of better teacher pay, and incentive pay for teachers whos students show high performance on proficiency tests. I would be one of those teachers. My classes have had an exemplary rating for the past two years, which means I, as well as many other teachers, were suppose to get an incentive pay last Oct.. Oct. came and we were told it will be arriving in spring. I'm now getting word that the State is planning to use the money set aside for this pay, for some other project. I'm so P.O.ed I cant see straight. They ask us to do a hard job, dangle a carrot in front of our face to do so, then turn around and kick us in the nads. And the State is wondering why it can not get qualified science teachers, as well as losing them at a very high rate. I know one more they are about to lose as well. We have not been told this in person yet, but there was an article about it in the Sunday paper. [/align]

Do not blame you one bit for being bent out of shape for being liedto again. Here in OK teachers retirement is underfunded and the politicians will not use any of the budget surplus to properly fund it.

If grade school/high school teaching is anything like university education, you likely also have to deal with a bunch of upper level administrators who love to urinate on your head and then try to tell you that its raining.

And Burnie, you have my condolences. I can only hope that all of my kids get teachers as dedicated as you are. But in the future, can we discuss "teachers" and "swollen nads" in seperate paragraphs? we just had a middle school principal arrested here for selling meth, out of his office, while watching gay porn naked. (and no, i'm not making that up) the whole "swollen nads" thing conjures up the wrong imagery...

Sorry to hear the crappy news, burn. I appreciate you fighting the good fight. It's sickening to see this kind of BS, yet wholly unsurprising. What a friggin' mess. I hope you can get back on the horse at the next job and be treated like a professional...
