Default Taxes for another year... yuk!!

I finished our fed/state tax returns for another year today. There are few things I hate more. It makes me realize how much we send away these people in D.C and our state.[:'(]
There has to be a better tax system than the convoluted system we have now. What do you think if we were able to total get rid of an income based system and replace it with consumption or flat tax based one? Let families with lower incomes send in for a rebate of most of theirs, so not to disproportionally hit them...

There is a better way and it's gaining steam...

http://www.fairtax.org/

All families would recieve a monthly rebate for the necessitites of life based on family size. If you want to know more read the Fair Tax book. It's very short and you will then truly understand House Bill 25.

That fairtax book was a joke, if you read it the authors make it seem like adopting that system will do everything including curing AIDS (obvious exaggeration). Could it possibly work, yes, but there's not enough information in that book to really convince and educated person that it will, without them having their mind made up before hand.

Really? I've read the book twice and everything that is presented in it is actual fact. The information comes from studies that were conducted by universities around the country.

"to really convince and educated person" or "to really convince an educated person?"

I always find it funny when people make comments about "educated" people and they make grammatical errors in the process.

Yeah that fair tax crap is just a loophole for the rich to get working families to pay the majority of tax, as usual.

They claim its only a tax on what you buy but, the devil is in the details as usual.

They want to exempt real estate transactions, stock trades, big equipment purchases, purchasing a business, etc etc. but thentax the hell out of food a and clothing.

Yeah its a tax on what YOU buy all right, and not a tax on what THEY buy.

If they want a "fair tax" then tax everything everybody buys, NO LOOPHOLES.

You "buy" it, you pay the tax on it, no matter what it is - now that's fair but you won't hear that championed by the "fair tax" shills.

That version is just too darn "fair" for them to handle.[][]
You obviously don't know very much about the actual fair tax bill or very much about who actually pays the tab in this country. This crap about the rich not paying their "fair shair" is just a tool that the democrats use to try and buy votes. With that said, let's move on...

So ... let's look some tax statistics and see where we stand. These figures come from the U.S. Treasury Department. Argue with them if you will, but they are official government statistics. The Treasury Department refers to these numbers as "Projected Share of Individual Income Taxes and Income in 2005."

The bottom 50% of income earners in this country earn about 13.9% of all income. So, to be fair, they should pay 13.9% of the total income taxes collected by the government, right? Well, the fact is they pay only 3.6% of the income taxes. Could it then be argued that the people in the bottom 50% of income earners aren't paying their fair share?

I don't want to drag this out with a full page of statistics from the Treasury Department so let's move on to the top 5% of income earners. The top 5% of income earners in the U.S. earn 31% of all income. So, their "fair share" would be 31% of all income taxes, right? Well the fact is the top 5% of all income earners are paying 54.1% of all income taxes. Now that's a bit more than their "fair share" isn't it?

One last group: The evil, hated, derided "richest one percent." The top 1% of income earners in the U.S. in 2005 earned 16.5% of all income. You might be interested in knowing that this share is actually down from previous years. At any rate since the highest 1% of income earners are earning 16.5% of all income, they should be paying 16.5% of all income taxes, right? By now you must know what's coming. The fact is the top 1% of income earners, while earning 16.5% of the total income, are paying 33.7% of all income taxes. They're paying income taxes in an amount double their proportion of the income and Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat fellow travelers will tell you that they aren't paying their "fair share." Ya right.... [:-]

Taxing food and clothing eh? Really considering every family in the country would be given these amounts every single month for the necessities of life?

Sorry, but the fact is that the Fair Tax actually removes almost all of the tax burden for families making under $25,000 a year, but believe what you will.

That simply cannot be true!!! EVERYONE knows the Republicans have been giving massive tax breaks to the wealthy and taxing the crap out of the poor and middle class. MoveOn and Oprah told me so. Bush has been stealing from the poor and giving to the rich for six years!!! [/sarcasm]
