It seems there are more and more Iranian provocations. It looks to me that war with Iran is around the corner. What do y'all think? I'm not saying whether I think war is good or bad, just it looks like the signs are pointing that direction. I just saw some information about a September fire fight of American soldiers with Iranian soldiers inside Iraq that was pretty irritating. The on-going kidnapping of British sailors is another irritating provocation. Of course, the loud flapping of Iran's president's mouth about the hoax of the hollocaust has not won Iran many friends in the west.
So . . . is war with Iran coming and if so when? Presumably before the 2008. This summer? This fall?
For unknown reasons, Iran does appear to be pushing and almost daring other countries to attack them. I doubt that any sane and rational person truly believes Iran will prevent their nuclear material from going to terrorists and being used for bombs. As such, it's beginning to look like it's only a matter of time.

If I had to roll the dice on that one, I would say yes, we are going to scrap. Putting the British sailors on trial is just one more step into the grinder. Let them pour over the border by the 100k's. The sky will fall in on their heads.
Get ready for $4 per gallon, tho.

for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks!
The main thing the Iranians are trying to do with their capturing British Marines out of Iraqi waters is to drag this out and divert attention away from their ongoing development of a nuclear bomb. They did the same last summer drawing Israel into war for the same reason.
Unfortunately, too many countries around the world are willing to turn the other way and let them get away with this.
If anything bad happens to these Brit Marines, Great Britain will be the first to deal with Iran and the US will support them. It may be first with a complete blockade of the Gulf any vessels going to or out of Iran. If Iranian "leaders"should be so insane to attack either British or American vessels, all hell will break loose.

I think we'll avoid war until it is absolutely clear thatIran has the materials to build an atomic bomb. Even with their thousands of centrifuges, it'll take a couple of yearsto produce enough weapon-grade uranium to arm a nuke. I'm sure they'll have the rest of the bomb(s) built by the time they're finished making the core(s), so we or Israel will probably strike just before they reach that point, based on intel.
There are resistance groups in Iran (labeled by the State Department as terrorist groups, ironically) who aregiving us what appears to be very good, solid information on the nuke program over there, in addition to whatever we gather from the outside. The White House has probably learned its lesson regarding evidence of WMD as justification for war, so I would expect the CIA to pay a little closer attention this time around and get things right.
Leaders are sick of war, afraid of another Iraq, and know any situation with Iran would be uglier than anything even though we would eventually 'win'. No, even if the british soldiers are crusified we will not go to war...maybe a few tactical air strikes.
Iran wants someone to attack. The Iranian govt. is not very popular with its people. Similar to how many feel about Bush in this country. ( not me)
Iran wants someone to attack so its people will start supporting the govt.
Apparently the people aren't happy with how things are in that country. I guess things are pretty bad and the people are sick of it. Also the people are tired of their president pushing the nuclear thing when they feel more should be done with the economy instead.
The Iranian president is not a popular guy with the world and with his own people. They only way to turn things around in his country is to provoke an attack and hopefully his people will do a turn around and support the govt.

from everything I've read, that's it in a nutshell. The current government is teetering on a knife's edge. hopefully, the continued international pressure and sanctions will push this regime over the edge into collapse without the need for military intervention.
