Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Here it comes folks...

Tit for tat?

Iran is threatening to kidnap some of our citizens again, what are the odds that we pull a Carter this time?

Your thoughts?

If the war in Iraq had not degenerated into a half-assed, politically correct conflict, then there would be a huge American and Iraqi force lining the Iranian border and the Iranians would be very quiet.

Starting another full-blown war over a kidnapping is overkill and just plain stupid (if anyone is suggesting that we respond that way).

I couldn't help but notice that as Reagan was being inaugurated they released the infamous '79 hostages, Reagan had run partly on a platform of getting them back even if it meant blasting them to Mars. Carter had tried negotiating for over 400 days and failed. Coincidence? BTW, I'm not suggesting a war with them, just some strategically placed conventional cruise missiles if the decide to get froggy on us.

Losing an oilfield a day could be a strong motivator to release hostages. But then again, that never has been used as a viable option in a generation's worth of U.S. involvement in conflicts in the Middle East. I wonder why

Well, it looks like the 70s agian. That is if a Democrat gets in office. I bet they will not do a thing until after 2008. That way the next Demo can do as Carter and play nice while making sure to take their liver pills.

i have a fine solution to the radioactive waste problem in the US. Spread it along the Iranian border about 200 yards wide on the Iranian side.Iranian terrorist infiltratorswill be easy to spot at night, glowing in the dark and all.

This is what I'm afraid of. It's an obvious possibility at this point. On the other hand, a move like that could potentially lead to a conservative Republican to win in '08.

The obvious answer is to enforce strict rules of behavior for armed forces personnel overseas. I would expect that base commanders are already aware of threats like this.
