Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Medical Marijauna

Whats your opinion on this?Just reading this artical and thought Id see if people thought marijuana for medical reason should be legalized.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17643246/

In particuliar I found this paragraph interesting.

Quote:
The federal government declares marijuana an illegal controlled substance with no medical value.
A federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled on Wednesday that a woman whose doctor says marijuana is the only medicine keeping her alive can face federal prosecution on drug charges.
The Supreme Court ruled against the woman two years ago, saying medical marijuana users and their suppliers could be prosecuted for breaching federal drug laws even if they lived in a state such as California where medical pot is legal.
Should individual states be able to decide this for themselves without federal reprocussions for the patients?

I feel that it should be legalized for medical and personal use. The War on Drugs is a complete failure and the amount of money gone into this "Marijuana" war is absurd. People go out to bars and get hammered and drive around and kill people, but a person that wants to relax in their own home is some kind of criminal? This goes without even getting into the whole medical aspect of it all because the fact is that millions of people are suffering fromdiseases like MS (my mother has MS) and they can"™t ease their pain because of our <edit> government. Ok, I"™m getting worked up"¦

I don't smoke Marijuana so this isn't some pot head saying this because he wants to get high, but our government has no right to tell any person what they can and can't do to their own body as long as they"™re not imposing on anybody else"™s life or freedom. That's all there is to it...

Its OK for you to give your kids drugs for ADD but god forbid let a cancer victim burn a joint to get a little pain relief and appetite back.

Just say No!!!!!!!!!!!! That worked well didn't it?

And to answer this question, ABSOLUTELY!! Our founding fathers designed it that way, but the federal government has grown into this monster when the majority of the power was supposed to be at the state and local level. You can research this and confirm it as a fact.

I would be fine with the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes. Legal for all? I know that the longer term effects are no worse than alcohol, so I guess it is possible that I could be ok with it. MJ will never be legal for all though.

We had a couple here in town that got busted for possesion of marijuana awhile back. She had a long history of glaucoma (sp?) and her doctor actually told her that pot would relieve the pressure behind her eyes which it did.The doctor couldnt prescribe it and pretty soon thier dealer got caught and narced a bunch of people out for a lighter sentence. The cops started rounding people up and pretty soon wound up busting thier door in.

Sad part was they knew the cops were coming but couldnt get rid of all the pot in the house because at that time her condition was getting very serious and it was all she had to help.So when they raided them they got caught with a relatively small amount of weed.

Heres the fun part though. After looking through her medical history the judge more or less let the women go free with nothing more then a criminal record and a couple months probation. But the husband got quite a bit ofjail time becuase his wife had pot in the house for a medical problem and he knew it was in the house[>:]Now you tell me whats wrong with this picture?Funnier yet less then a year later she became enrolled in some kinda trial group where the state actually gave her the pot she needed to get through the day and her husband was still doing time for the possession charge.[&o]

I know these people and would find this story hard to believe myself if I hadnt watched it go down.Matter of fact the night before they got raided I stopped for coffee and the husband told me after recieving a phone call that I better leave because the cops were going to be showing up soon.

I suppoose I cant see much different between pot and most of the other crap they prescribe every day.Everythings got potential side affects, much of it can alter mood and behavior, and the only real difference is the feds havent figured out a way to control it yet.
