Hm. I like people getting more freedom, but I'm also wary of the tax revenues China generate now that many industries and some service sectors have begun to mature and people have money to spend on property. Beijing's really going all out onits military expenditures, and a large Chinese military is always going to be a problem for the security of thePacific Rim.

While I have no reason to doubt your statement or disagree, I think we have more reason to be worried with countries like,NorthKorea, India and Pakistan than we do in China.

Our problems with China are longer-term, but still, if Taiwan does something that really ticks off Beijing, we could be in the middle of a big fight. The United States has passed laws that require our protection of Taiwan against attack from China. We're legally bound to go to war with the commies if they try anything.
