What do others think about the following statement and maybe the story that it came from?
"General Pace"s comments are outrageous, insensitive and disrespectful to the 65,000 lesbian and gay troops now serving in our armed forces," the advocacy group Servicemembers Legal Defense Network said in a statement on its Web site.
Yeah, just what I was thinking. Even if you go with the standard old number that 10% of the population is homosexual, you still wouldn't get 65,000 actually in.I would think that many homosexuals would choose not to go into the militaryat a higher rate than heteros as well, due to expectations of service. 65,000? I don't think even close to that.
First I heard that one but if true....If you ask Pace something , you will get his honest answer. That is what I like about him. If you watch any of the oversite hearings they are very careful what they ask him.

Maybe so, but there is no good way to acurately determine actual numbers. "No ask, no tell," plus the possible scenerios from doing a survey of troops would either be very inaccurate or could lead to unwanted consequences for those actually answering honestly. I still doubt that homosexuals join the military at the same rate as heteros, thus likely much lower, thus making 65,000 very unrealistic.
I thought the exact same thing when I read this story. Like I stated on a different post last week, these PC groups lie all the timeand no one in the media EVER questions them on facts. Facts do not matter to these people, just as longas its PC. In my opinion they had a good point, but ruined it by including a bold faced lie into their public statement.

I never would have thunk it? We actually somewhat agree on an issue.
I don't get how people just assume they have a right in inclusion. I spent my entire childhood dreamingof going into theairborneand trying to make it through Ranger School. The problem is that I came down with diabetes when I was 14, and that automatically disqualifies me from service on medical grounds.
To be honest, I wouldn't want to be in some foxhole with a guy tweaking our from hypoglycemia during a fire fight. There are similar arguments against having openly homosexual soldiers. The bottom line is that if the army doesn't want you, that's too bad. It's their prerogative.
