Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default What Rush and others fail to realize....

I've been a staunch conservative republican for as long as I can remember (thanks, Grandpa). I've also watched the Republican party flounder into something I don't like......every since Reagan left office.

I used to hear people say they had to make a choice of the lesser of two evils. I'd then hear Rush and other "conservative" talk show hosts tell us not to waste our votes by going to the "third" parties.

I can't think of ANY other way to let the Republican party know how ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED I am with the way they've been molded as of late......than to withhold my vote. The libertarain party is a LOT closer to what I hold dear than the party I've been voting for.

I never thought I'd say this......but the Republican party I WANT to be aligned with.....has deserted me. Why is it such a stretch for me to desert them?

Does anyone else feel this way? I'd say.....based on the last election....I'm not alone (although I pulled a straight ticket.....out of .....loyalty or stupidity...I haven't figured it out, yet).

As of late neither party offers much in the reasons to vote for them. The GOP has abandoned their base and the last elections were a sign from us to get back on track. I am not seeing that Wya or the rest has pulled their collective heads out of the sand to notice the distaste we have for them.
I am embarrassed to say I am a registered republican but the Clinton's hardly give anyone a reason to rejoice.
If ever there was a call for a third party candidate now is it.Lets hope some one steps up to the plate.

Yes, i know exactly how you feel. Our "family values" Republican congressmen from OK are totally unresponsive. They are lawsonto themselvesand are not accountable to the citizens who elected them. TheWhite Houseagenda is the only thing that they care about. Maybe the national Republican party will wake up before the 2008 election.

I pretty much agree with ya. I'm likely to just withhold my vote also. There just isn't a third party out there to turn to. If a really reasonable third party came into existence, I think the Republicans could find themselves replaced.

This is my inaugural post in the politics forum. I'm happy (no...I'm NOT) that there are others that feel the way I do......but I'm REALLY saddened that it's come to this. I'm a CONSERVATIVE, first.....REPUBLICAN, second. I'm not being represented.

When I said I'd withold my vote.....I spoke too soon. I WILL VOTE. I'll just have to make a more tactical vote. The BIG thing that scares me is the appointments each president makes (i.e. federal judges and SC Justices). if it weren't for that......a Democrat in the White House would be ok. Hell....we have a fiscal liberal in there, now. For the record.....I loved GWB when he came to office. I still believe when he speaks to me.....that he REALLY believes what he's saying. He's just so far out of touch with me......that his policy kinda disgusts me, right now.

God I love to let this out...................!

We definitely need a third party, one that more appropriately addresses the needs and wants of the majority. I think that if most Amercians were polled you would find that most are not truly satisfied with dems or repubs.

There is another way--hit there where it hurts--in the wallet. I will vote, and if it has to be for the lesser of two evils, I'll do that rather than throw my vote away or not vote at all. When you get an e-mail or phone call, refuse to donate and tell them why. Send out a few e-mails if you aren't getting any calls or e-mails yourself.

If I'm going to get a lashing regardless, I'll choose 2 stripes over 20.

I'm with you 100%. Hopefully we will be able to turn it around--it didn't happen overnight, so I don't expect to fix it overnight, but I'll try to do my part to get it fixed.
