Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default UK perspective

Reading the threads on the forum here I see you guys in the US are facing many of the same problems as we are in the UK.
It's getting very dificult to speak your mind here because the politicaly correct brigade will brand you as a biggot, homophobe or racist.
Well I think I'm a decent hard working family man who although doesn't go to church much now but tries to help my neighbours and be a good guy.
I made my opinions known lately that our government has-

Banned smoking in public [I've quit}

Trying to ban fox trapping

Banned hunting with dogs

Increased fuel taxes [we pay $2.8 a litre]

banned docking of workingdogs tails

trying to put more restrictions on firearms ownership

trying to ban air weapons

increased vehicle tax for 4x4's

yet they have

legalised gay marraige

given illegal immigrants more rites

given more rites to gays to addopt children & get ivf treatment

increased unemployment benefits

increased te ammount of imigrant workers rites

I was shot down for airing my opinions

I don't know , I always thought I was a decent guy but am I wrong to think that my government doesn't care for guys like me?

You have my sympathies, and a lot tougher row to hoe than we do with the rampant liberalism dragging your poor country down.

I feel for you. Its good to hear a first hand account of what is going on in your world. I hope we do not get to that point.

I do give Kudos to Roger Waters. He stood up and said, "screw you", when they banned fox hunting. I guess he got a gut full of yalls rights getting taken. We are happy to have him here. Now if we could get him and Gilmore back with the band and get a tour going.

I converse fairly regularly with some freinds in the UK from the Manchester United forum. I am surprised at the high percentage of folks like you, given the percentage of degrading within the systems there. It must be like it is here--the minority within the population, extreme liberals, get more representation in the media, allowing for a slanted view of the mainstream. It seems that those in the UK that are extremly liberal are very pessimistic and have a large degree of resignation and apathy. It seems as though the 'good guys' like yourself are passionate, but frustrated, with no sense of what can be done to curb the erosion of rights and of the sinking moral climate.

I was there when you guys had the big fox hunting debate go down. I was shocked it went thru. We should be smart and take a lesson from your guys experience, but looks like we are headed down the same road.

Where are you located stew? I go to UK about 3 times a year these days. Usually for BT up in ipswitch or cable and wireless in redding. We have a building on Worship street in London. Sometimes I am near the cable head in Penzance or Lands End. Wouldn't mind to share a pint with ya some night.

What is "docking?"
Removing their tail and/or trimming the ears(think doberman).

Yep, doc and crop. Trimming of the tails and ears. Germans started it and now thier PETA groups have pushed it to be illegal.
